one question. Are you willing to buy it online? you can get much better deals online than you will in brick and mortar stores, so much so, that you can get a better card for 200 online than you can at the store.

check out tomshardware for all the benchmarks. a very handy site for something like this.

and yeah, if you can, buy it online. use pricewatch.

$200 bucks, your card is the Geforce 6600GT. Though, the best price you'll find is a little bit higher than 200, maybe 215.

toms hardware is a mess of a site, someone just give me the low down.

A geforce 5500OC is a worthless POS, end of story. It is from the Geforce FX line which you should of avoid at all cost. Best for 200 not right now really, best for 228-240 would be the 6600 GT AGP version. Best for 140, 9700 PRO. This will change but that is it for now.

well you can get a Rosewill 6600GT AGP for $199 at newegg. Rosewill is a new company so I don't know if they are good on realiabilty or not, also you can get an eVGA 6600GT AGP for $213, eVGA is a great manuf. and they have a trade-up program if you deside that you want a better card later.

I agree with the 6600GT.

An FX5500 OC is...just damn funny. Why the hell would anyone overclock that shitty card. It's probably a downgrade compared to a 9600 SE, whereas a 6600GT should be about three times faster, if your system doesn't bottleneck it.

Yeah, and never buy in store, unless there's a really good deal. Like my friend got a 6800 GT from Best Buy last year because it was out of stock online at the time.

Stores have overpriced old hardware...like I saw someone buying a Radeon 7000 at Comp USA a month ago, and it was $100 I think. Wtf @ that.

Tiger Direct has their headquarters in miami florida. I've been to their cheap store (their company HQ is in a cheap mall believe it or not) and they are still selling the 9800 XT's for 349.99.

Actually, in store is better for now especially when you consider the new cards which are over priced online. Funny thing is that the weekend just before the 6800 GT's were out comp usa had a 30 percent off for all PNY product sales. The Comp USA I happen to pass by had them stocked up early. Now only did I get 30 percent off but the manager who was a class mate of mine in highschool gave me the employee discount on top of that. I went home with a 238 USD (tax included) PNY VERTO 6800 GT. :D

Don't even get me started on how I lucked out and got a cheap X800 XT PE from best buy. This generation of cards has been soo good to me.

:D

A 6800 GT to an X800 XT PE?! And I thougt I was upgrading too fast going from a 9800 Pro 128MB to a 6800 Ultra OC.

Now I don't have enough RAM. I've got to spend more after all that. In WoW, if I have max settings on at 1280x1024, I hit Page Filing in places like Ironforge. Framerate craps out, harddrive clicks like crazy, and the screen will freeze constantly.
