I recently bought a new computer from Dell and the video card I wound up with at the time was an ATI 128 mb x800 SE. Well, the computer showed up yesterday and the card installed is an Nvidia 6800. Looking on Dell's site, the only possible Nvidia card they are offering with my model (Dimension 8400) is the 256 mb 6800 GTO. How do I go about determining which 6800 model I have? I don't know anything about video cards....did I get a bargain or do I need to call and complain?

I don't think they make 128MB x800's

So it might have been an error in dell's part for listing it, so they just gave you the Nvidia.

x800se's cost less then the Nvidia 6800 so, don't complain.

If your display control panel (settings -> advanced) doesn't have Nvidia's uber tab, then go to www.nvidia.com, install the latest drivers, and then check the display control panel again.

If its just a 6800 with no GT or Ultra suffix and it just says 6800 then it most likely is a 6800. :)

The 6800 is clocked slower and only has half the pipes ( 12 ) and only 5 out of 6 vertex procs of the GT/Ultra. (Don't quote me on that, think its suppose to have 4 vex procs ) The card is on par with a 6600 GT aparently but is more expensive because of the 256 bit bus compared to the 128 bit bus of the 6600 GT.

Your 6800 should fare better at higher resolutions with max IQ settings because of the wider bus compared to the 6600 GT and the 4 extra pipes..
