Video Editing equepment - help

I use my cam, and I use the USB to transfer the clips to my PC, but the quality SUXXXXXx

is there any card that I can buy, and it can capture a good quality out of my cam ?

I've searched www.newegg.com but I didn't know what to choose

Buying a 1394 (AKA Firewire) is your best bet, assuming your camera has a DV output.

It's faster than USB and you can record your video at higer resolutions.

Digitize everything to AVI, and then compress to MPEG-2.

If you have a DVD Burner, then you can record to that too.
 
my cam has a DV output ..

and this is my Mobo, does it have what I need ?

will i need the cable only ?

There's no such thing as a stupid question.

It'll either be called a 1394 cable or a firewire cable. Ask for either and someone should know what you mean.

For basic home stuff, I use Ulead Mediastudio 6, which I find very good and versatile.

You can capture your video with AVI with the software, edit it, and then compress it into MPEG - 2
