Operating on a few assumptions, I don't see a major problem with that behaviour, distasteful as it is. Hate to defend an idiot like that but if we were all getting shot at (and again without knowing the specifics I'm willing to make the assumption that there was fighting going on) and then from afar someone else blew the hell out of guys trying to kill *me* I'm honest enough to know I'd cheer like a fucktard too. And probably cream my dusty fatigues in shameless relief. It's just human nature.

That's all well and good for you to tell the president, but that's just your opinion, and the soldiers in the video have already committed to do what he tells them to do.
Edit: For that matter, it's just as easily not the "defenders'" block either. The real residents have better stuff to do. The soldiers are fighting just as many fighters from outside Iraq as within.

What you continue to not get is that to those soldiers, it isnt about killing the other people, it is about winning. Winning means killing. The other side is already dehumanized, so killing is good. Those soldiers dont view insurgents with people with families, etc. They view them as terrorists to be eliminated. Cheering at their elimination is just cheering for victory.
Once again: A soldier with the kind of ideas you have about this video is called by only one name: dead.
It's kind of embarrassing to read someone whose closest experience to actual combat is in videogames Telling It Like It Is.

I know what you're saying and I know that they're trained to be mindless drones... I realized that after I learned the marines were encourgaged to watch Starship Troopers because it supported their mentality.
Regardless, its still terrible... and I don't buy that they'll all die if they don't scream out in jubilee after making a kill. I've never seen someone shoot a deer and start yelling at the top of their lungs about how much they rock.

First of all yes they're soldiers "doing their job" (aka killing) but that doesn't mean they have to actually enjoy it that much. I just can't stand some americans who consider being a soldier as something noble. Killing is not freaking noble no matter how you interpret it. If I had a daughter I would prefer her to be a hooker than a soldier. Bye.
