Viewtiful Joe - GCN or PSTWO?

Poody

What program do you use to photoshop a picture?
Maybe this had been asked quite often but which version should i get? same goes for viewtiful joe 2.

I played VJ on both, and I found them to both be very good. Controls on the GC's pad are a little better IMO...but playing as Dante in the PS2 version makes it the version to get.

GC cause it's already $25 at Ebgames (when used with a $5 off coupon online or instore with coupon from some catalog)

doh, I thought you meant Viewtiful Joe 2, nevermind. Get the PS2 version

GC version. It can be bought for $15 now. Only get the PS2 version if you think Dante is worth paying almost double the price. Quite frankly, I don't think he is considering the game already has a few unlockable characters in it. What's one more? Besides, the game is pretty challenging and you might not even unlock Dante anyway.

lol, I think the PS2 controller is way better, but I wouldn't buy it just for Dante. Guess everyone has a different opinion on this.

Well, for me at least, there are a few games that use the Cube controller masterfully. Joe is one of them, as are Sega Soccer Slam and Super Smash Brothers: Melee. F-Zero GX and Metal Arms make good use of it as well. I think the Cube controller is made for one particular kind of setup, and most orthodox control schemes are awkward on it.

Yep, the Cube controller can be quite akward in many situations...but it works beautifully with certain games.

I see the choice has already been made, though. I would have went with the GC version simply due to 480p support + slightly more detailed visuals, though.

I only have the Gamecube version, but I've seen the PS2 one...

interesting no one brought up difficulty. I believe there's an easier mode on the PS2 version.

The Gamecube game is hard. There are two settings "Kids mode" and "Adult mode". And unless I'm mistaken the PS2 version has a third. My stance is that you'd be robbing yourself of time spent being really challenged by the game if you buy the PS2 version just for the extra difficulty mode. But there again -- if it's too hard, you may not like it at all. So if I'm right, thats one thing to consider.

I don't know why but I seem to remember thinking the PS2 version looked ever so subtly duller, and something about the way it moved wasn't as good as the Gamecube version... but make no mistake, it's still a beautiful game on PS2.

Finally - Dante... just doesn't matter.

I would personally advise you to go for the Gamecube version. But if you forsee having difficulty that you wouldn't like shell out for the PS2 version.

PS2 version. Had the GC version earlier, now have the PS2 version. Both controllers work well enough, though I personally prefer the PS2 version controller based on the face button design in this case.

Aside from the PS2 version seeming slightly duller in color (going from what I recall of the GC version), it is essentially the same thing with Dante added and that additional difficulty added on. Dante plus the controller preference in an otherwise comparable version make the case for my staying with the PS2 version.

I'd recommend waiting for Viewtiful Joe Deluxe on Xbox. It will have VJ 1 & 2 and some kind of remixed 2 player co-op mode and Live scoreboards. :lol

I reckon they'll announce it around the time of the PSP/DS versions.

But seriously, I'd go for the Cube options. The frame rate seems slightly slicker. And if you're some kind of strong-sauce psycho and want the extra 'Sweet' difficulty setting, Viewtiful Joe Revival (GC) has that too.

I'm very surprised how well the ps2 port turned out

I own the GCN version, but I hate the GCN pad so much that when the PS2 version came out I was considering upgrading to that. After this thread it looks like I'll stop by Fry's later today and grab the PS2 version.

How do you unlock Dante?
