I have next to no visual novels on any platform.

House in Fata Morgana
Kara No Shojo
Song of Saya
The Letter

That's about it.

Hard to tell your tastes just based on that, so I'll just recommend some of the highest rated out there (via vndb)

Steins;Gate is the highest rated vn of all time. It's a time travel and thriller story with great plot twists. Start with the original, if you like it you can consider sequels. It does start very slow though.

Aokana is the top moege/charage recommendation for beginners. It's a sci-fi sports story about a sport called "flying circus" where players flying through the air score by touching buoys or their opponents back. It's filled with sports drama and excellent character development. EXTRA2 is the fandisk sequel and is the highest rated fandisk of all time.

The Fruit of Grisaia is an all-time classic that was once recommended to every VN fan when it first released. It was exceptionally popular at the time due to shattering typical expectations for the genre. Has a unique protagonist and there is not a bad character here. Every route and their story is good. There are several sequels that have spawned off this one due to it's popularity, though none have been quite as good.

Zero Escape: Nonary Games is less of a VN and more puzzle stuff, though it's not too challenging. It's a thriller story, told over the course of 3 games (though this pack only contains the first two, and the third was very divisive). It has an English dub. There are some crazy plot twists in this game, just like Steins Gate.

Fata Morgana: Requiem for Innocence is the prequel to Fata Morgana. If you liked that game and want to know more about Morgana, Jacopo, and Maria this is a must buy. This is a gut-wrenching tear-jerker.

Raging Loop (also available on consoles) is a mystery/thriller about a village that is trying to find a murderer amongst them (think something similar to the mafia party game). Unfortunately the ending was disappointing for a lot of people, but it speaks to how excellent the first 3/4 of the game are that it has such a high rating despite that.

KANADE a new VN by Asou Ei (Lilja and Natsuka Painting Lies) with character designs by Yusano (GINKA) got announced. It's a collab between Frontwing and Good Smile Company.

Thank you for the recommendations, really appreciate it. I'm going to go with Steins;Gate, I think. Looks to be my type of VN. Thanks again!

That seems strange to me considering all the games with jiggling boobs or whatever on mobile.
Maybe it was just stricter in the past as that game is quite old.
Yeah. Forgot to post about it but a guy I know was streaming it on Discord last night using an Android emulator and it looked like the jiggle is still there so it might just have been Apple being weird.

Wow! How did you like the true ending? Im gonna probably just watch it on youtube.

Are you gonna try out Steins Gate at any time in the near future?

The True Ending is really short. It took me an hour to get through and I highly recommend you just play it yourself. There's a guide you can use. As for how I felt about the True Ending. It was great, I thought they tied up everything beautifully

Are you gonna try out Steins Gate at any time in the near future?

My next VN is playing through all of the Muv-Luv Trilogy. I've been putting that one on hold long enough. I got the recent Switch release and it includes all of the three main VNs. My only issue is that looking at the how many other Muv-Luv releases there is on Steam, it looks like they only released the three main games on Switch. I wish they did a collection like The House In Fata Morgana. The Switch Version of Fata Morgana had the main game, after you go through the main game, it unlocks the Prequel, than the sequel and than the side stories. Wish the Switch Muv-Luv Trilogy release was like that

Than I'll complete Phonix Wright Ace Attorney

These are the other VNs I'm playing this year. Not in order

Chaos;Child
Famicom Detective Club Games
Emio The Smiling Man
Utawarerumono Trilogy
The Fruits of Gresia Trilogy
Another Code Recollection
Master Detective Archives Rain Code
Aokana
Gnosia
Slay The Princess
SINceMemories Off The Starry Sky
Ever 17 The Out of Infinity
Never 7 The End of Infinity
Raging Loop
Opus Echo of Starsong
Paranormasight
Ace Attorney Trilogy
Fate/Stay Night
Witch On The Holy Night
TSUKIHIME

As for Stein;Gate, I might play those games this year. Not sure yet. I saw the anime a long time ago so I already know what happens. But I will eventually get to those games

What VN have you been playing?

I just started Muv-Luv Extra today. I really like the psudo animated scenes from the VN. Characters are interesting but this VN seems more like Slice of Life. Not complaining but I'm doing all three VNs back to back. I'm going to play more tommorow. I've been playing on Switch

Extra is slice of life romcom, and is vital to the setting. How much do you know about Muv Luv? The less you know the better tbh.

I haven't really been able to do much in the way of VN's lately. Jobs and other life responsibilities have kind of gotten in the way of VN enjoyment, but when I get back to it I am thinking of going for Umeniko When They Cry

I don't know anything truthfully. I'm going in pretty blind

Yeah after I beat all three Muv-Luv VNs, I'm taking a break from VNs and playing an JRPG. And complete reading some books, manga and comics I've been on for a while

As for my next VN after the Muv-Luv Trilogy

It's either gonna to be Utawarerumono Trilogy (Steamdeck) or The Fruits of Gresia Trilogy (Switch)

Depending on how much I like Muv-Luv Trilogy, I might even buy and get the side stuff that they didn't release on Switch on Steam

I loved Witch on the Holy Night, but hesitate on Tsukihime as some reviews have been mixed. It seems pretty violent, which may be ok, but I don't want a VN that is one big action bloodbath.

Thoughts? I have about a dozen hours on airplanes coming up. That being said, something super graphic may not be good on a plane with my seat neighbours.

Good! Buckle up, haha

As for Stein;Gate, I have the Switch Version. I only played a little but my issue is that they use stills from the anime so I'm going to wait on the Stein;Gate Reboot game to come out and play that. I hope that it's just a updated version of the first Stein;Gate with some newly added story elements

It's weird they would do that when the art in the original game was so good. It's not like the anime even had particularly good animation.

Did the original steins game not come with Elite on the Switch? Elite is the one with the anime stills. Honestly, the art in the original VN is way better than the anime. On steam they give you elite if you buy the original VN. I would never recommend anyone play through elite tbh..

Unfortunately Stein;Gate Elite is the Switch Version

I love the anime but I want to play the game with the original art
