Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Out of curiosity, what's everyone's go-to Vita games when they're bored? I'm not necessarily talking about your favourite titles (though they could be), but ones you consistently pick up to play to kill some time and know you'll enjoy them.

Wipeout 2048 for me.

Is anyone else having a problem buying NLKS? I've tried buying it from both my Vita and the web store, but it just gives me an error message. When I remove it from my cart, my purchases go through fine.

is nlks framerate as bad as they say? Anyone got video evidence?

I don't have a video, but I played the game and yeah it's pretty damn bad. Not unplayable, but bad.

The Wii version is a much much better version of the game in general. The framerate isn't the BEST but it's much better, the controls are better, they gutted all the charm out of the Vita version for a generic artstyle and generic anime cliche characters. I'd suggest that over the Vita version any day.

oh man really?? its THAT bad? i heard only in town when you have a full army.

isn't the hospital a good addition to the vita version?

you're making me want to just buy it for wii again over vita...

I mean, it's not the WORST or anything. It's really fucking bad in town but out in the field it's playable.

The hospital is good, yeah. But honestly I didn't use it much.

Its probably not worth going and buying a whole console for it :lol. But if someone has the option they should always get the Wii version. It's just so, so much better. They really butchered it in terms of tone and charm.

So rivera for the psp is coming up as $2.49 as opposed to the $9.99 i've seen listed. So...is it worth it at that price?

Yes. Pretty much all the atlus discounted games are worth it at the price point.

Rymdkapsel is releasing on iOS and Android on July 25th. I hope it does well on those platforms; it deserves it for being probably the best PSM game.

I'd agree if the AI wasn't so retarded. A fast forward button would make a big difference too. Hopefully that's fixed for the iOS release (and then back ported to PSM!)

Anyone who's played it: Is Silent Hill: Book of Memories with the PS+ discounted price of $7.50 USD worth the scratch? I don't care if it feels like a dungeon crawl with a Silent Hill coat of paint, but I do care if it's a weak dungeon crawl...

Hey guys. I'm getting a Vita sometime in the next few days (maybe even today, if I can stand to bike in the heat) and I'm looking for some PSN buddies. Befriend a lonely GAFer? My PSN name is Tom-ocil.

Is that an arrested development reference to teamocil? If so you get a gold star lol

It is indeed, haha.

Proud owner of a shiny new Vita right here. Got the CoD bundle at Best Buy for $230, traded the game in at Gamestop and picked up 3 months of PS+ for $8.

The demo was better than I expected. Haven't bit yet, only because I'm still debating on the ton of other games on sale.

Just picked up Yggdra Union and Riviera for $2.50 USD each. Good stuff. Anyone know if these were scheduled sales? I didn't see any notification, so I'm wondering if it's a crazy price drop.

For me, it's Project Diva f. The very nature of rhythm games means they're highly replayable, but it's one of the few that I've been so hooked on. I never really was into Vocaloid prior to this game, but I've acquired a taste for the unique vocals of the songs now. Really looking forward to F 2nd even though I know I'll have to import it.

Second would be Dynasty Warriors Next for the similar reasons. Nothing like sadistically mowing down mindless mobs of enemies in some short missions. It's also got surprisingly good visuals when compared to the console iterations. Though, I'm not sure if that's a knock against the consoles or praise for the Vita.

So far my main go to time wasters have been

Zen Pinball 2 I have all but maybe three of the available tables, such a fantastic pinball game in my opinion, and one of those games the will likely stay on any card I have unless we get a sequel.

Second is Passing time, not very deep, but thats alright because if I want more depth in a soccer game ill just play fifa. Passing time is a go to because its easy to jump into, the visual style is appealing to me, and its quick fun imo.

I can see Tokyo Jungle, or Hotline joining those though as they are great for the same purpose.

Hustle Kings.

Looks great, addictive gameplay, tons of modes and features, decent touch controls, cross-play, cross-buy, and a surprisingly excellent soundtrack that I can't find anywhere online, hence why I have to play it so much.

Any impressions or videos of Tokyo jungle PSM?

Kass has some video of the game on PSStores (cant link on Vita), but really its great imo. it is basically the same game as the PS3 version only its 2D, and movement is grid based. Still have lots of animals to unlock and play with, still day/night cycles and timeline, still presents to find ( no cosmetic costumes though) mating system is still in, and stealth kills are still important. I love it, though I would be lying if I did not say that I hope they consider bringing the PS3 version, but the PSM version is perfect for a mobile platform.

The controls take alittle getting used to, but once they clicked I had really no issues. Obviously no trophies though since PSM games dont have trophies.

Does it work well with physical controls?

Exactly the same as yours. Project Diva f and Dynasty Warriors Next, depends on my mood.

Project Diva f for me too. I have literally never taken out the card from my Vita since I got it besides for one day in which I felt a sudden urge to play Dynasty Warriors for some reason.

Bought a Vita on Craigslist awhile back but didn't really ever play it and ended up selling it a few months later. This new crop of indie games might convince me to give it another go. Will buy immediately when Binding of Isaac comes out.

Oh my God. I just paid a visit to Sony's retail loyalty site.

So good.

One of small downloadable games i have installed at the moment when it happens - currently Velocity Ultra and Sine Mora

Nearly finished getting the Guacamelee Platinum. Such a great game. I'll have to reload my normal mode cloud save file in order to finish up the DLC trophies, because "Bone on Bone" is impossible on Hard (finishing up a lengthy round of difficult arenas without any health regeneration).

Nice little Star Wars reference.

Tokyo Jungle Mobile is awesome. It captures the tone of the PS3 version gameplay mechanics, but presents it in a new way. Still just as addicting.

I'd have preferred a straight up PS3 port, but this is great also! I didn't even know it supported touch controls. Lol. For $2.99, it was a steal, though. Looking at the screenshots, I thought they changed it to a tactical strategy game because of the grid, but nope, it's Tokyo Jungle. Awesome stuff.

It's not impossible, but it certainly provides the greatest challenge you will experience within the game. It is a great feeling to complete this set of arenas. I was having an average run, before destroying the final 3-4 rooms flawlessly, whilst having flashing health.

Of note, the benefit of that Skeleton Costume is that you have unlimited special moves, there is no recharge required. The juggling possible is insane!

It's at least worth an attempt... or 50... ;)

Nice!

I did that a few weeks back. Today I got; Soul Sacrifice, Little Big Planet, and a 16GB Card. 30 buxs total

Where are all these good rewards? All I see on the On.Playstation site is launch games, not really tempted by LittleBigPlanet or Gravity Rush.

Gungnir is on sale on US PSN for $7.50, while I'm not a huge fan of SRPGs, but I'd like to hear impressions of it. If feedback about the gameplay interest me, I'll get it during this sale.

Dude thanks for letting us know, since it isn't advertised. I've wanted it for a long time, and no lie, I was just about to buy it last week to finally get it over with and throw it on the pile of games before SCEA possibly ever decides it doesn't belong in this PSN region.

I only played a couple of battles, and it hit me with a megadose of old-school tutorial screens, but it looks nice, tons of personality and I won't shy away from calling it a top tier candidate for grid-based SRPG's.

I'll give it a try, but I get the feeling I'll crumble up and cry after a little bit.

They tend to be bought out really quickly.

You gotta be fast..or lucky

My Vita is the cheapest console ever!

50 for the console
10 per game
20 for mem card
ps+

winnnnn

Ahh. Any specifics on when they update the catalog or is it just random? I assume they'll be new listings and filtering by date added will show them up even if they're old rewards re-added.
