vtubers?

RIP Bozo
Was obvious something bad happened behind the scenes since there was someone abruptly leaving every few weeks for vague reasons. Now that it's public will be easier for everyone since they no longer have to tiptoe around the issue. Kson briefly stated on stream she's known, and is and has been looking into action to get out of contract early, and I bet everyone else is either doing the same or running out there contract.

big yikes on that situation. it seems like such an easy issue to not fuck up, especially since this involves charity and your biggest talent. I wonder what the hell happened there. is it really just greed or was there some misunderstanding or other issues. I always thought Vshojo is one of the better agencies too. shame.

Apparently Henya and others have also removed mentions of VShojo from their bios, so we could be looking at a mass exodus from the company. I never really cared for the brand myself, but this is such a tremendous fuckup that seemingly came out of nowhere that I have trouble believing this, you know? Like how is this even possible?

Really makes me feel like the era of corpos is over. Sure, there's benefits to a company deling with a lot of the management and business side of things, and being indie isn't easy either, but so many people are thriving as indies that I don't see much of a future for these corporations anymore. Cover is the biggest one, but they've been bleeding talent as well so cracks might be forming there too.

Kson is leaving too.

edit: oh, she's calling the Vshojo JP CEO to talk on stream.

That silence when she told him to pay her if they're doing good.

On some more uplifting new, Nimi is getting married.

Oof, he thinks what they're planning to do is file bankruptcy which is why they've not been paying the talent side of things since they're going to try to get the payment to them discharged as they're labeled under independent contractors.

Weird of her to bring that up out of nowhere. Good for her, but I personally think relationships are incompatible with this type of idol/parasocial activity.
I personally think it's weird that you feel that way. Not sure why it's weird for someone to announce that they're getting married.

She hid her relationship from her fans and then out of nowhere dropped this announcement on them. That is objectively weird. Especially in this industry.

Not really. I see someone who just became comfortable with coming out and saying it. Not to mention just probably being genuinely excited and wanted to yell it out to the world. Ya know...how normal people would feel in that situation? This is also the same vtuber that set up some pretty clear boundaries vocally in her previous persona. "Hid her relationship"; Like it was actually her personal duty and responsibility to keep you informed of that stuff.

Man, vtuber fans are something else...

Nimi has been keeping that part of her private life separate from her streaming persona all this time, even after her debut. She mentioned multiple times that she still wants to be an idol. You know all that creates certain expectations with fans, especially in the vtubing scene. So taking that into account, it is absolutely unconventional or "weird" to bring this up now.

This is also the same vtuber that set up some pretty clear boundaries vocally in her previous persona.
Her not bringing up private matters was also part of those boundaries. She has redefined them by bringing up her marriage. She's free to do so obviously, but it is unexpected like she says herself.

That's a weirdly nefarious interpretation of what I said. Not what I meant in any case.

the poor little kettle. :messenger_crying:
Yeah, lots of sad stories coming out from VShojo. I felt especially bad for Mint, who was secretly working with them to debut a new idol group. She's really into idol culture and missed the experience of working with genmates to achieve their dreams together. Those plans are cancelled now, and all the work she invested in that stuff is gone. She hasn't received the proceeds from any of her merch sold in collaboration with VShojo either.

YT also recommended a video of a smaller vtuber who had auditioned with VShojo. She was strung along for half a year, told repeatedly that she'd be able to debut only for it to be cancelled at the last minute after already investing thousands of her own funds into her model etc. Horribly irresponsible company.

Ran out of money how? They didn't pay anyone in the last few months but somehow lost 11 million dollars!? Sounds like they transferred it to Switzerland or did some stupid cryptoshit.
I also like how he somehow didn't know that 500k were for charity. Ironmouse is just one of his biggest talents and It was all over the news.
Put his lying ass in jail.

well, Gunrun came out and take responsibility.

not saying it's fine or anything of course. just posting what's going on.
Yeah "I didn't know the money I stole was for charity bro" isn't going to hold up in court for Charity fraud, hope this motherfucker receives jail time, and more than just months.

Also I've not seen this one reported by most people talking about it, but someone within the company was doxxing them.
It was first told by Shibuya since she recently learned about it while in the states and was about to talk to someone about it now that she was back in Japan..

Geega's response to Gunrun confirmed what she said was indeed true at the end of her reply and they're well aware of who it is.

All because she wanted to play a damn Harry Potter game and the mentally ill didn't like it. I have some words for him, but it's probably it's against gaf TOS so I won't be saying it here, but it will be said somewhere.

Also this makes her finishing the game on stream even more based, since it wasn't just a middle finger to all the "twitter freaks" but to this piece of shit as well.

sigh, what a freaking shit show. times like these I REALLY appreciate HoloLive. the only problem in recent years that they seem to have is the direction of getting everyone to be an idol in one way or another. which, I mean, Yahoo had said from the start their goal is an idol company afterall.

wtf, GAF has a vtuber following? I thought that was only for weirdos and spectrum folk?

What is the fuckin' appeal? :goog_what:

this is GAF after all. it's full of weirdos, so nothing wrong with that. have fun with what you like and if vtuber isn't your cup of tea, there are plenty of other stuff out there. /shrug

as for the appeal, for me, I just like listening and watching them do stuff. play games, draw things, cooking, singing. it's entertaining and relaxing. sometimes heartwarming too. others might be into it for the idol aspect of things. or maybe it's a good escape from the daily grind. whatever it is, there's nothing wrong with it. hell, with the way they're gaining popularity with collaboration with more mainstream stuff like baseball teams and PC or food chains, it'll just be a part of daily life sooner or later anyway.

It's really cool to be able to stream and be somewhat famous online but to still be able to be completely anonymous in real life. Plus it's really cool to see the technology and how expressive & creative the models can be.

Ah never thought about that aspect. Yeah that's a bonus then, at least for the steamers themselves.
