Walmart Canceling Multiple Switch 2 Pre-Orders Citing "Card Issues"

Apparently I got a call from my local Gamestop telling me it'll be ready to go on Thursday, and they won't be doing a midnight launch. No matter about the midnight launch.

I paid for my Walmart orders using PayPal and the payment was charged right away at the time of purchase. Order status hasn't changed the whole time from arriving June 5th.

Not really worried either way since I have backup orders from GameStop and Nintendo, or rather these are the backup orders. Just wanted to post this as a point of reference for anybody else who ordered with PayPal.

I got the Walmart "double check your address" email around midnight last night. But I still haven't been charged anything, and the status on my order still hasn't advanced from the first step, "placed".

I was initially happy to see the email, but now I still have anxiety that it was just an automatic message that happens when a preorder is a week out, and maybe I'm not actually in the clear yet. Sigh

Seems odd they don't give you 24 hours to correct the payment method and be billed instantly once corrected (giving you a chance to try multiple cards then and there).

So last night I got a noticed to check my payment method.

I have a Capital One card that was used buuut I had to cancel it a few weeks ago due to fraud issues. I reached out to Walmart about this and they said it would be fine as they already charged the card...guess not.

I was able to use the new card and it saved and I got a new email confirming the payment was processed. Still shows pending in my capital account.

Hope this works out.

I went to my local Walmart today and they had a bunch of Switch 2s in stock. The guy who was working electronics told me that one of them is mine since I'll be having it delivered from the store on Thursday.

That's a nice heap of garbage there. 👍

I paid with PayPal and they pulled the money for the full amount immediately. I bought 2 from Walmart and I've kind expecting them to cancel one. That's why I have 1 at GameStop and another via Nintendo.com. The Walmart orders are still good, though. Expecting at least one of them to come through.

Damn, you couldn't stick to maybe getting two at two different stores? No wonder I couldn't get this.

TArget said will arrive by June 11th. Walmart says by June 5th.

Best Buy ready for midnight launch. But could do better on clearly telling you what stores are participating.

Walmart is playing games with me or something. My May 31st charge was yet another phantom charge. I just noticed my funds were refunded but my order is still saying placed and arriving by June 5th. I swear if I get another fraud alert from the bank when/if they decide to actually charge me that I have to approve I'm gonna flip. WTF Walmart!!!

Surprise surprise, despite calling them twice this week when I got emails about card trouble, clearing the trouble, and being assured by support that the pre-order was fine, today I got an email saying my order has been canceled.

I buy so much stuff through my credit card and I haven't had a single issue with it for years, now myself and others are suddenly having card trouble from one specific vendor? Oh well I suppose it wasn't meant to be; it's not like I'm bored or don't already have a big backlog of games to play.

Maybe they are sorting out people with multiple accounts but the same card and address?

Apparently Walmart is well known for not charging when you buy something online and then months later when you've completely forgotten then they charge you out of the blue.
There seem to be a lot of us on Reddit that never got charged by Walmart but then some are saying they've had this happen in the past with them and they finally got charged months later.
Should be illegal or have a time limit imho. It's really inconvenient to have to keep the money in your account but then remember not to spend it and then checking for months to see if they took their money or not.
I just deleted my account and don't plan to shop online with them going forward.
Still no charge almost a month later for me so far...

Pretty sure they only charge when before getting ready to ship....

Standard process is to charge when item ships?

When companies charge before sending product, they are vilified and called out?

No I'm saying I received my Switch 2 (it shipped and I have it) but I never got charged for it.
Apparently they'll charge me a month or two from now based on what folks are saying
Oh I see yeah I definitely missed the point. Yeah that's pretty abysmal lol
