Because

Batman

Can't

Trust

Anyone.

That's why.

When OMAC Project #1 came out a few weeks ago, I asked my LCS to pull a copy off the rack for me out of curiosity. Turns out they never even got any copies, damn. The 2nd printing came out this week, so I asked again... but demand is high now and they may not have enough copies for everyone, so damn again. Well, they say the third time's the charm...

We got copies but the nuts at my store ran through them... I ended up having to pick up one via eBay... haven't gotten the damn thing yet.

do you know what batman's real problem is? he doesnt wnat to be human. i think he envies the other super-heroes cause they have it easier. for a detective and criminologist he sure cant see that sometimes there are circumstances that require unorthodox actions...... oh, we'll see how this breaks the league apart. but i'm curious to see what superman's sins are.

So they erased 10 minutes of Bats memory. Supes and Hal erased a lifetime of torture from Bats at the end of the Emperor Joker story.

And Bruce was super pissed at Clark when he found out about it. But because Superman confessed what he had done instead of keeping it a secret for years, and because it wasn't part of an ongoing story (or... was it?), and - more than anything - because it was Clark, Batman apparently let this one go after a heated exchange and some venting.

It's not the same thing.

big deal. I don't see why they're making like this is the crime of the feckin century. Somehow controlling the outcome of a situation with violence is ok, but messing with someones mind is too much. Whatever

I just noticed something incongruous in the whole memory wipe thing. One panel has Batman with the rest of the Justice League wrestling with Doctor Light (which is paralled with the first panel of page four of OMAC #2 and Identity Crises #3, page 13, panel 2). But we know that Batman beamed into the Watchtower when Dr. Light has already been taken down. Doesn't effect things too much, Batman was still memory wiped but I guess that means that he actually couldn't have been wrestling with Dr. Light, I think it's just an error in story telling because the writer wanted The Flash to see Batman in Dr. Light's memory.

One small pet peeve. I hate how all the super heroes refer to each other on a first name basis in their thoughts or just very casually. I don't know Batman's relationship with Zatanna but you'd think a man that was so paranoid would want people to refer to him as such as not as Bruce, especially after Identity Crisis. I don't know, I think it's fine when they're in person or if they're good friends like Superman and Batman but it seems like everyone knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, which shouldn't be the case since it was such a big deal in the Tower of Babel storyline. That's why I didn't buy Jean Loring knowing who Robin's dad was or who Batman is, but oh well.

Edit: Whoops. Apparently Batman helped fight with the JLA against Light and then transported away, and then came back after the vote. Seems a little too quick but oh well. Timeline sustained.

He got back to the satellite just as the Dr. Light mindwipe was being wrapped up. And it wasn't just a normal mindwipe either, but a whole personality rewrite; Zatanna had never tried something like that before, and it probably took a while to get it right. Long enough for Bats to finish his business in Gotham and return to the scene.

These Countdown to Infinite Crisis mini-series' have been hot as hell. The first printing of The OMAC Project #1 sold out in less than an hour at my LCS - first time anything like this has happened. My shop didn't even have any hidden, "beyond the counter" copies for the regulars!

Same thing happened with Villains United, too. And yesterday's second printing of OMAC #1 was sold out in a matter of hours, too. Luckily, I snagged a copy this time.

For anybody wondering, it's pretty good so far.

Here I was thinking it was the weed that made him paranoid.....
On that note, in my freshman year in high school, some guy i sorta knew told me that Batman took all these drugs as part of his training to get an immunity to them. i'm not making that up. Is there any truth to this in any of the Batman comics?

Must be a problem with the scan or something. Check out Wonder Woman too. Same repeating pattern and stretched face as a result. Ugly stuff but not likely the real art.

Only drug I can recall Batman taking would be Venom. When Batman fails to save a little kids life because he wasn't strong enough he takes Venom but winds up becoming addicted to it. To break the addiction I think I remember he locked himself in the Batcave for a few days.

So...

That betrayal of trust, that mindwiping action by the "Power Pact" JLA, was apparently the catalyst for all of Batman's paranoid behavior and secret scheming over the years? Cool.

Batman's turning it Ra's al Ghul. For the mistakes of a few, punish everyone. Or is he turning into Lex, the way he's starting to hate and fear all metas.

Because he is afraid that someone might find out the phrase "Robin, to the batcave" is just a euphemism for anal sex.

old joke, I know.
