Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is an upcoming turn-based CRPG with a unique and thrilling narrative that follows the shadowy agents of the Inquisition. Take on the mantle of an Inquisitor, and use every tool at your disposal to root out corruption, sedition and heresy, bringing the Emperor's wrath to those who would see the Imperium fall. Hunt down clues, investigate mysteries, and uncover vile conspiracies.

In this brand-new game, deep reactivity with countless variations will grant you the ultimate role-playing experience. The path of an Inquisitor is not for the fainthearted. There are no easy decisions in the war for humanity's soul — will you choose to hold fast to the puritanical mandate of the Emperor, or embrace a more radical and pragmatic approach? The choice is yours.

They operate in the shadows of the Imperium, trusted by few and feared by many. Watch the Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Announcement Trailer to know more!

Interesting. I was waiting them to release the second story dlc for Rogue Trader but after finishing all they can to Wrath of the Righteous they focused on a new game. It is highly likely they are developing the second dlc as well. Can't wait for this new game!

I love RPGs, especially CRPGs :goog_horns:

On one hand: hyped.
On the other one: confused, since they denied any of their projects in production would have been a Pathfinder or Warhammer title.

I've still to play Rogue Trader. Are the bugs mostly cleared up these days?

Please be fully voiced

These games have massive amounts of text for vo work. My biggest fear is them truncating the writing to make voiceover more plausible. I like what they've done in their previous titles, major characters get some lines and you still have party banter, but the vast majority is delivered via text.

Owlcat has been killing it. Rogue Trader was excellent and Pathfinder WotR is a goat rpg.
I still wish they had gotten BG3 over Larian.

I didn't encounter any on my two playthroughs, platform was Series X.
Glad to hear it! It looks excellent but I thought I'd give it some time since I had heard a few people say it was a little rocky at launch. Also means I can grab the DLC for it too.

Fuck yeah!!! I bounced off WOTR so many times but I LOVED rogue trader, so many different choices and paths to take and the combat was unique too!

Looks like it is in fact fully voiced

YES!

On a side note, somebody invent a software that you load in the background of your PC that scans the screen with OCR and provides AI voices for videogames or any text currently on screen.

Not only will it help the deaf it will could also be beneficial for older videogames without VA.

It should also be 100% completely possible and not even that difficult with existing technology. Such technology(static not AI) already exists across most modern devices but it isn't refined or usable on all content. It also isn't programmed for any kind of entertainment usage, but rather accessibility.

Technically it shouldn't even need a PC, just a cell phone pointed at the screen. Could replay old FF games with it. Just need to train it to recognize dialog vs menu text.

They have kept my Infinity Engine dreams alive, I want them to tackle D&D so bad. Something crazy too, like Ravenloft or Dragonlance or Spelljammer.
Give me Dark Sun!
The depth of their character builders and mechanics is insane.

Ohh, Dark Sun would've been a dream come true. But sadly I don't think WotC would allow that setting to be released in any form without sanding off all the edges.

Love to see it. Wrath and Rogue Trader were both amazing so can't wait.

I mean technically we aren't far off with computer agents they can interact with your system from Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.

I am totally on board with this. Loved me some of that rogue trader. Great experience all around and their support for the game continues with more content. Granted I wont be playing it just because of how I approach beating games and not touching them again

Welcome to the Calixis Sector, gentlemen! I will not lie, the chances of your survival are small. Some may even turn against your friends as foul mutants. But you have my word that I will use my arcane gifts to ensure your bodies are given unto the Golden Throne. This is the greatest reward, more than even gold, for the fate of your soul is an eternal concern. Now come, follow me: strike down the heretics that rise against us, allow me to find this eldritch amulet. I ask not for my own selfish studies, but for the good of the Imperium!

I think this fully voiced dialoges apply only to companions not the whole game.

Hope I'm wrong about this but I don't think Owlcat has that kind of money to bring fully voiced game.
Dev literally confirmed it on their Steam forums

Honestly, it's enough to look up their responses from recent two years or so to know this was most likely going to happen as they said multiple times they feel full VO is something players tends to treat as a given and they have to start incorporating it

Interesting and superb news. Are they gonna use AI, after getting samples from their voice actors? Hmm, questions, questions  Whelp, we'll see.

Just hope that, like @ C ClanOfNone stated above, this won't impact their writing quality.

Owlcat is cookin! :messenger_open_mouth: No idea how they are able to pump out these crpg's like its nothing.

I just wish I would be more into this whole Warhammer universe. Its a complete unknown for me.

Afaik Rogue Trader released in really poor shape, so I wouldn't be surprised if Owlcat really rushed that game.

Yeah, I know...Owlcat games are always a bit rough at release....but getting fixed quickly. The output is still astonishing:

2018 - Pathfinder: Kingmaker
2021 - Pathfinder: WotR
2023 - Warhammer: Rogue Trader
2025 - Warhammer: Dark Heresy

And they all have various DLC's as well. Thats sick!

This could be their breakout?

I love their previous games, especially Rogue Trader which was the best game last year (2023 was a beta release imo)

They already said months ago that all their future projects moving forward will be fully voiced.

These games have massive amounts of text for vo work. My biggest fear is them truncating the writing to make voiceover more plausible. I like what they've done in their previous titles, major characters get some lines and you still have party banter, but the vast majority is delivered via text.

I used to think part of this bullshit too, until I realized that some writers can't keep it in their pants and BENEFIT from having to contain the word count.
There's also the fact that PROPORTIONALLY to the rest of the production budget voice over is not as prohibitively expensive as it used to be. Case in point: plenty of indie titles can afford to have it, too.
And any speculation that it would compromise the game is questionable in light of projects like Divinity Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity 2, where fullvoice over was a last minute decision on the production pipeline, so it hardly affected anything about the writing (except maybe discouraging further edits).

Anyway, the debate is a bit of a moot point, since as already stated Owlcat already confirmed that "fully voiced" will be their new baseline moving forward.
