I already know which game I will be picking up with my PS3 :D I can't freaking wait to see what they have done with the game since TGS.

BTW solid please stop using imageshack. I hate that bandwidth exceeded frog image >_< use this image host: http://tinypic.com/

thanks for the video link (and the new image host)

before i download, will this 60 fps + hd run at all on an 800mhz , 128 ram? i have had some game videos don't work at all...like a slideshow

Saw at TGS. Loved Warhawk so much 1st time around. Best water evar. Apart from Blue Dragon maybe.

I can't wait to play this one... and as I know Incog. Inc., it will probably be running at 60fps 99% of the time. This nowhere to be seen "Playstation Conference" can't come soon enough.

Shame they dont get the respect they deserve. Downhill Domination was one of the more criminally underrated games in years. They kinda out SSX'd SSX and no one blinked an eye. War of the Monsters was great fun too. Cant wait to see what they come up with for the Warhawk refresh.

About the great looking water in this trailer, I remember somebody on this forum brought this up awhile ago but it seems Warhawk will be one of the first games to really make use of Shader Mark 3.0's Vertex Texture feature for water rendering. Its a form of displacement or relief mapping as I understand it. This is what gives it that amazingly realistic spatial quality in motion. Ergo it looks more like an actual 3D body of water as opposed to the flat shiny normal map stuff we usually see. The difference is amazing.

edit- Here's an excerpt that goes into a lot more technical detail...

They could start getting it next gen, especially with Warhawk being a launch title. It's been a spotlight on the PS3 since it was announced, so making it out earlier on will help it and Incog.
Having a new TM on the backburner for after WH would keep their hype going.

Gorgeous, in-game >gameplay< (some of it anyway) PS3 graphics...thats been overlooked. I doubt the games ability to attract a large audience, but hopefully the onfoot sections meld well with the formula.

I was sure this was posted before, love that water.

I wouldnt mind if TM went off into the sunset at this point. A new War of the Monsters could have a lot of potential though. Imagine what they could do with destructable physics sim. :D

I doubt it was helped by the atrocious print ad they had for the game, which seemed to be the only advertising it got and did nothing to make it seem like anything other than a "me too" extreme sports entry.

Yeah, I want that. Bad. With online play.

I loooove Warhawk, and I have a lot of faith in Incog .... but that looked like butt, save for the 60fps part....

I'm hoping they up the art, make something in the sky, take that fog out, and not make the enemies travel in centepeede lines...... They probobly had to show this thing a bit too early.

I never played the original WarHawk, but hot damn this looks great!

PS3 Twisted Metal next? ;) TMB was awesome- and a fantastic early showcase of PS2's power at the time.

Is Warhawk PS3 a remake or a sequel? Anyone know?

The lead designer said it was a remake in his blog, i'm not sure if it was just a misprint though. That's the only place i've heard it referred to as that. It might as well be a sequel given all the enemies on screen.

It's been so long since I played Warhawk. It was one of the reason to convince me to get a PS1 back when it came out. Blew me away back then. Locking onto multiple targets with the super swarmers is pure awesomeness. Battling a fleet and flying right into these flying behemoths attacking the insides...faptacular!!

It's been so long...that's like the few memories I can muster!!

Can we get a mirror please. I am one of the few that can't get video to work at Kikizo. Someone yousendit or something, please. PEACE.

How can it be a misprint if its coming from the lead designer? :P Number of enemies on screen and inclusion of on foot missions has nothing to do with it, it could be a remake ++. Maybe they are adding stuff they wanted in the original or just improving it.

Anyway I never played the original so I am really looking forward to it.

Because adding all that makes it a completely different game for the most part. It really doesn't matter though. Here's the direct quote from him

Last week was E3 and Sony unveiled the PS3 so I can finally be a little more open about the unnamed game that I'm working on.

It's called Warhawk. It's a remake of the old Playstation game of the same name. The game is being developed by Incognito in Salt Lake City -- the excellent team behind the Twisted Metal franchise. I'm providing senior design direction.

This is where he confirms the TGS footage was gameplay

Warhawk is being shown at the Tokyo Game Show this week. So far we're getting some very positive press. One of the nicest bits is this Gamespot article that says, essentially, "This doesn't look good enough to be fake."

Good call. Yes, it really is real gameplay footage. Yes, that really is the water that will be in the final game. Yes, you really can battle against several hundred enemies at a time.

damn its camcorder footage, not direct feed though
Yeah, it's the HD cam footage. It's not 60FPS video either, but the game seems to be (it's 30FPS video but you can see the motion afterimage)

That guy working on it makes me think those on foot missions the original trailer hinted at are real. He was the lead designer on the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. It's good to see they're bringing in someone who's had alot of games that have been really well received to help instead of trying to do it on their own and having a really broken section in between the flying parts.

On foot missions are obviously real. I mean why else would they show high quality models?

Unconfirmed reports make War Hawk seem like one seriously amazing flight action game.
by Ivan Sulic

August 1, 2005 - At press time, we have not been able to officially confirm with Sony whether any of the following is true. Please note that calls have been placed, however. With that in mind, here's our disclaimer: The below information is unsubstantiated report. Consume it at your own risk.

In a nutshell, an anonymous source close to the Salt Lake City developers at Incognito Inc. suggests that Warhawk PS3 could be the definitive flight action game of our time. And here's exactly why...

The unconfirmed report starts off simply enough. "Warhawk is really awesome," says the bold tipster. As the story goes on, we learn that the game has recently been switched to run on "Stage-2" development kits, which suggests something more akin to real world PS3 technology than what was previously revealed at E3.

This has apparently helped Incog get the new flight engine up and running. The informant states that the underlying technology allows the game to feature upwards of "2,000 enemies on-screen at once." While this number may seem impossible, try to recall the vast amount of individual entities present in Capcom's Dead Rising, Microsoft's Kameo, Q Entertainment's Ninety Nine Nights, and Factor 5's Lair -- not to mention Incog's older E3 trailer. Consider those, then doubt. Hell, just play Rome: Total War!

Apparently, this will be totally possible in-game.
In addition to raw quantity, the Incog spy says Warhawk will feel killer, too: "Most people describe it as Halo meets Star Wars meets Crimson Skies." Fans of flight action will hope that means Tie Fighter plus Zipper's Crimson Skies on PC, but it could just relate the style and feel Incog is shooting for, since the source goes on to note that it's retro like CS, though not quite so much.

But what's up with the Halo nod? Well, gamers who caught our PS3 coverage will have surely noticed the incredible soldiers present at the beginning of the Warhawk demonstration.

It seems unlikely that Incog would go through such trouble to meticulously render ground-based models that would only get seen from an altitude of 7,000 feet and a speed of 500 miles per hour. So according to the rumor, those characters are actually part of an extensive on-foot component. We're taking the Halo mention as a "tell" and assuming it's going to be first-person. It's also said that the game is squad-based. If that applies to both aerial combat and land action is not yet clear.

Let's recap! 2,000 enemies on-screen. Check. Flight action. Check. On-foot action. Check. A combination of Halo, Crimson Skies, and Star Wars... Oh my sweet goodness.

The leak also indicates that Warhawk is tentatively scheduled to ship next fall or at least sometime before the Christmas of 2006. Sony is also purportedly shooting for a Teen rating with this one.

We'll be back with more Warhawk information if and when it becomes available. Of course, as soon as we hear from Sony, we'll update you with that official word.

p.s. If you know how to obtain a freezing device that will put us into a peaceful stasis until winter 2006, let us know.

I hope these rumours are true! BTW Ivan left IGN last week :D

I'm a little leary of adding on-foot missions. The original Warhawk was awesome because it focused on one area - killer flight combat - and did it well.

(I'll never forget the second level, was it? Where you flew inside a big enemy battle cruiser as it glided over the ocean. Those graphics were as close as we got to photo-realism at the time. I even remember the Gamefan quote at the time: "If this is 32-bit, what the hell is Ultra 64 going to look like?" :lol )

Anyway - here's hoping the on-foot action doesn't spoil a good game, ala Rogue Squadron III.

It'd make sense to hold I-8 back then, as this will likely be FP based during the onfoot missions. I can see this being Sony's flagship PS3 title at launch.

I hope this isn't a launch title. Launch titles are too rushed! Sony needs to give these guys some time to so that they can deliver a great game.

The same developer released their first game on PS2 (TMB) a year after the PS2 was released.

They released the original TM a little over a month after the PSone launched (Warhawk was actually a PSone launch title), and it was very high quality. I don't think Sony will have it released if its in a rushed form, but even from the first time it was shown it looked far along. That was close to a year ago.

ok point taken! Sony doesn't release buggy, rushed games so I think you are right.

Hey, if you've seen it, and actually played it then I'll have NO PROBLEM believing you.

After that PS3 dev came out, and said what he said, and after seeing 360 games in person, rather then target-renders, I'll wait.

As I posted above, the lead designer confirmed that its gameplay. No skating around it, he flat out said it was gameplay.

I would LOVE to believe him. Seriously.

Problem is, all the years of lies, upon lies, upon LIES have scorched my beliefs.

I remember early N64 shots. Untill I see the game, It's bunk to me.

Lens flair anyone? Ugh.

It looks great. I hope it really does look like that INSIDE THE PS3, NOT A COMPUTER.

Warhawk and I-8 are going to kick ass at launch.
Hopefully Lair will play well(whatever you do in that game) and it would be ultra awesome if Heavenly Sword launched day 1.
Not to mention 3rd party games like Moh Airborne, Tekken..etc.

The game's been in development since 2003, apparently.
