Warner tested GOBLET OF FIRE in Chicago...

Argh...worried about the movie jumping around way too much now. That was my problem with Azkaban: it missed so many little details that are CRUCIAL to the full understanding of the story. Otherwise, Azkaban was easily the most beautifully shot Potter film yet. I'll obviously see Goblet of Fire but am worried about the pacing and important parts being skipped over.

Won't have money for the Half-Blood Prince right away either. Booo. :(

after seeing Prisoner of Azkaban, I'm anticipating this one. The best book of the entire series so far IMO, should be a good movie

i love azkaban, but damn i miss the first Dumbledore (Richard Harris). he was just soooo much better. not that the new guy is bad, it's just... well, after reading the last book with that ending, I want so bad for Richard Harris to do that. I seen him in my mind's eye and ::cries:: I want him in the movie. Of course, I don't have to worry about that for another couple years I suppose.

p.s. this one has a different director... so don't be expecting it to be like Azkaban. this director will put his touch on it.

Warner wants each movie to have a different director starting with Azkaban so each has a unique feel, however Cuaron has said that he really wants to do another so hopefully they'll let him do Phoenix or Half Blood Prince.

I know they'll probably keep Voldemort's picutre a bit secret, but are there any production photo's of Mad Eye Moody yet?

Ifor one love the new guy playing Dumbledore (Get a big kick going backnow and watching Toys and imagining Dumbledore as the General). Anyways, i thought he brought mroe life to the character. Harris was great but he always seemed like (And this isn't meant to sound bad) he already had one foot in the grave. I will agree Harris looked more like I expected Dumbledore to, but Michale Gambon sounds much better. He sounds like he really enjoys himself in the role.

Cuaron would be perfect for
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. That book is extremely dark. When I first read it (read it twice now) I was kind of upset at just how dark it was. But then I realized that Rowling was taking it that direction for a reason... for that ending. The whole book sets up that amazing ending. I was literally like yelling aloud "fuck YES!' at the end, and that had a lot to do with the whole book being so dark.

When I watched Azkaban the movie, I thought Cuaron got the book completely wrong. It is not that dark of a book as he made the movie.
But in the Order of the Phoenix it is... which is why I say Cuaron was the wrong choice for Azkaban but perfect for the Order of the Phoenix.

Having said that, I still love Azkaban the movie... it's just I don't agree that it is even a decent representation of the book. It isn't. But it stands well on it's own however.

But they should get Cuaron for the Order of the Phoenix, his dark style fits that perfectly. I just wish he wouldn't have burnt that angle up already on Azkaban, which isn't a dark book at all.

Damn sounds like they should have just made two movies, I mean Azkiban wasn't as long and they seriously skimped over things, oh well all we can do is hope it turns out ok.

This is my favorite book in the series by far. They'd better nail this one otherwise I'll...um...well...I'll only watch it once.

I really glad they replaced Richard Harris, actually. Other than his voice, he was lame in the part. Michael Gambon is great.
Well...he didn't have much to do in the first 2 movies. I would've loved to see him in Order of the Phoenix; I think he really would've sold that final scene in Dumbledore's office.

Kinda had to be replaced.....

Gambon just doesn't get the subtleties of Dumbledore like Richard Harris did. Think of this, in the books, Dumbledore often likes to slowly and calmly put his fingers together, in a prayer like fashion, and then look over them with an incredible wisdom like look. Richard Harris fucking NAILED that shit. Gambon just can't get it. He doesn't even try... and if he did, it would look out of place. That right there tells you he's not exactly right for the part. Dubledore is not intimidating. He is a calming and serine voice of reason and politeness, even in the most dire of circumstances. He never panicks and is always slow to react or judge.

And also, Harris showed such affection for Harry that Gambon can't get right. I don't get their connection with Gambon... with Harris, you could almost feel his affection for Harry... it was tangible.

I hate you :( I can barely survive wating a few more days for HBP (Which I have to wait a week to get :( ) and now this?! I don't know some of the actors and I really want to search for pictures of them but I'd rather not seeing anything even more.

Guess what, kiddies? Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) has arm hair. Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) has an pronounced adam’s apple (no matter how hard he tries to hide it by wrapping that annoying scarf around his neck). And it might be illegal in some states to say what’s going on with Hermione’s anatomy, but let’s just say she’s filling out an evening gown a little nicer than last year. Alright fine, I’ll just say it. Emma Watson turned into a bona fide babe. What I wasn’t aware of going into GOBLET OF FIRE (aside from the entire plot) was that this is the coming-of-age part of the equation. The student make jokes and comments that makes it perfectly that they know the difference between girls and boys. Director Mike Newell (FOUR WEDDING AND A FUNERAL; DONNIE BRASCO) seems to emphasize the raging hormones that seem to cloud many of the interactions between the wizards in training. In addition, there’s bizarre sequence in a glorified jacuzzi with Harry and Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson) that may provide you with some additional reasons why Myrtle is moaning. She is clearly attempting to check out his goods under the water.

Finally, we have Fiennes Voldemort, who I’m tempted not to even talk about until I see how he’s really going to look. Even as a more normal looking person, Voldemort still sports pointy teeth, grey skin, and a nasty persona. This is the first time in any of these films I actually feared for Harry’s life.

The biggest surprise in GOBLET OF FIRE is Michael Gambon’s Dumbledore, who really gets to spread his wings much more than in any of the other films. He’s a key figure for Harry in uncovering the mystery of a recurring nightmare he’s having, and I loved their scenes together. Also on hand (sort of) is Sirius Black, played by Gary Oldman in the last film. I say it like this because Sirius is seen in “disguise,” and I couldn’t actually swear that it’s Oldman’s voice you hear as Sirius. IMDB.com says it is, so I’ll take their word for it.

This is the best one, folks. There’s really no two ways about it. The acting is so much better than the perfectly acting third film, and the story and emotions add such a layer to this already explosive series. I think I may hold off on reading any of the books until all of the films are completed. I like going in pure like this. If a person who has no connection to this universe likes these films, they’ve got to be doing something right.

For the record, Gambon>Harris. While I cannot help but feel like Harris may fit more of Dumbledore's intricacies in CERTAIN situations, Gambon seems like a much more likeable character. There are moments where I really feel that Dumbledore has to be a little bit more likeable, or else I can't believe this student body is rallying around him. Harris was strong in the role from the point of being very distant from Harry, and while that would work well for Order I think that Dumbledore needs to be far more energetic. I think that we haven't seen enough of Gambon to really judge his ability to show all emotions. We have yet to really see how he handles certain situations and I think that will be important for the character...Azkaban really only required what he provided, and I think he suited it.

I'm excited to see Goblet...I'm a little worried about how, exactly, they manage to cram everything in, and am slightly disappointed to see the fun little Skeeter arc cut down greatly, but the reality is that I can't be too worried. I have faith in Newell to figure it out.

I think that Azkaban needed to be as dark as it was, because it gives the movies the darker tone they needed so Goblet didn't come off as a shock. While a really, really long book allows for a subtloe shift into a darker tone for its conclusion, a movie doesn't allow that too well. I think that Azkaban, as the introduction of the Dementors, was the perfect time to introduce the change that would truly come into effect in the next film.

The new dumbledore is better than Harris. Sorry, but Harris didn't have enough energy. Dumbledore in the books obviously has more energy, as you'd know if you read the 5th book.
