WarnerMedia Looking To Sell Off CrunchyRoll

Sony must be frothing at the mouth to get this. Surely HBO Max could have benefited from this library.

WarnerMedia is reportedly looking to sell off anime subscription-streaming service Crunchyroll with the current asking price said to be at least $1 billion.

Crunchyroll features more than 1,000 titles and 30,000 episodes which allows it to claim to be the world’s largest anime library.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, which operates their major competitor Funimation, is said to be one of the potential buyers though others are being pitched to.

Funimation has by far the worst streaming app on ios. The only explanation is that they hate their weeb customers and actively want to torture them.

Yea it'd be nice if somebody bought them that didn't actively hate their fanbase. But nobody in that situation likely has the money so...

If I had a billion dollars, I’d buy Crunchy Roll and turn it into a non-woke animation platform. I feel like there’s a big audience out there who doesn’t want to be berated and yelled at. I think it’s an untapped market in the current year.

Crunchy Roll doesn't own shit do they? Why would Sony pay 1.5 Billion to AT&T when they could instead buy all the actual Studio's and IP in Japan and do what they want with it? I don't really follow why Sony Justice Warrior would want to have anything to do with anime in the first place, do they intend to turn all the schoolgirls into 'roided up trans women?

They should have just continued their partnership with Funimation. I don’t see anyone spending dollars in this.

It seems like AT&T are fishing to see what their dollars are actually worth now. Trying to drive up speculation money In the market.

The spike they got from multiple buyers on the gaming side, was the biggest they were going to get, and now everyone is left holding the bag.
