Was Septerra Core any good?

I've been collecting a lot of PC games lately. I started poking around in my collection today and found it in there. I forgot it was there and never bothered to play it. So I was wondering if it was worth firing up?

I remember the big hype about this one being one of the very few Japanese style RPGs for the PC. I played the demo a LONG time ago, and it seemed OK, may be worth to try for a bit...

That depends on how much will it cost you. It tries so hard to copy from Final Fantasy 6 & 7 that it is just silly.

If you get around to playing it, let us know how you think it is. I've seen it in the used PC software rack at a couple of EB's near me, and I'm tempted to grab it, but the thing holding me back is time. (I just don't have the time to get through as many RPG's as I'd like to, so I'm trying to be a little selective these days.) If it's worth playing, I want to grab it myself; otherwise, I might as well leave it for somebody else who'd get more out of it. :)

I bought the game at EB for 4.99$ New retail :D the game was awsome back in the day graphics were really good, story was ok... puzzles sometimes were hard if you don't pay attention. But the biggest flaw was there is a glitch in the game about 2/3's into the game it would freeze, a patch was released, fixed a lot of minor problems including the glitch but some people were still having that glitch problem. I was one of them :( but from what I played it was a good game, if you can find it cheap get it!

It's just okay... I played it back in the day, though I barely remeber much about it. I remember being hyped for it more than I remember the game itself. The graphics were decent at the time, thought I don't think they go beyond 640x480, so they might look bad now. The combat was not too remarkable at all... Imagine Final Fantasy VI without the personality or variety... The backdrop's a total ripoff of Nausicaa.

Combat is slow and tedious. I don't think it tries to copy FF6/7 in the sense that not only is it NOT 3D, but it's no where near as good. The graphics are decent, the sprites look nice, but I remember really disliking the combat system. For those of you who live near a Fry's electronics store can get this game bundled with Shogo for only 5 bucks in one of those dual disc sets.
