I wanted it to be like Guardian Legend (which is fucking awesome) but it's not. On the overhead screens, your character is just way too big/the camera's zoomed in too tight, and the ship battle are frequent and annoying. I did like the sprites and the script/plot had some promise from what I played. I just picked this up from gamefly for 12.74 which was about the max I'd pay for it. At that price I'd say go for it, but not a penny more.

A good idea ruined by a design team that tried to get too cute.
...[the developers] seemed to be actively attempting to form a pastiche of all the flaws from other Namco published titles released this year. In its released form Sigma Star Saga is a game that is devoid of any compelling reason to play through it. Gamers, look elsewhere for your GBA fun.

Its a good story, but the shooter sequences are too easy! The creatures you fight against dont really defend theirselves or are even smart. They just kinda fly into your line of fire, and the better you upgrade your weaponry, the more your enemies tremble under you.

It really is a shame, I got this because I didnt buy Shantae, and I regret that fact.

Heard the Shantae team was working on this, and I got really excited... played it at E3, and though I was playing Blazeon on the SNES (read: total crap). My friend picked this up when it was released, and aside from some decent character art, it remained as it was at E3... total crap. As redundant as this will sound... avoid.
