Was Super Mario Advance 2 rushed?

Just bought this today.

It seems a bit buggy, unlike the other three.

First of all, on a few stages, I've had the top of the screen to flicker wildly, similar to what you'd see if your cords weren't plugged in properly with your television-console games.

Second, the sprites are soo washed out. My God. They usually have the same basic shape as the Super NES original, but the colors are extremely pastel.

Next, it seems like they didn't take account of the reduced screen size as much as they did on the other three Super Mario Advance games. Unlike in the other Super Mario Advance games, there have been a bunch of times I've died in this game because I couldn't see far enough below or above Mario.

Also, what is up with Luigi? I can't control that bastard. He's way, way, way too floaty.

Finally, the sound is poo. It's like the developers were unaware that the GBA outputs 8-bit sound, so some tunes are simply out-of-tune and have a "screechy" sound to them. I noticed this the most in the haunted houses and dungeons...ugh, it sounds so bad.

It's still a good game, but I can't help but feel Nintendo rushed this one out the door a few years ago.

I never played it on SNES, so I didn't notice any of the differences you talk about... Overall the game was a letdown for me (after being hyped for it over a decade), definitely my least favorite Mario platformer of the ones I played (SMB, SMB3, YI, SM64)

Luigi is floaty because apparantly they used the Luigi from Super Mario Bros 2...where he was floaty as well

Bullshit! How can you not play it, it was bundled with the freakin console

it's washed-out because the SP (and GBP for that matter) wasn't out then and they had to compromise for the old gba screen. and luigi's floaty because they wanted to stay uniform with the "super mario advance" series, and the previous one was mario 2 of course. stupid, but you don't have to play as him.

I never owned a SNES.

*hides in shame*

Hey I was a poor kid and couldn't afford two 16-bit consoles, and Genesis was cheaper!

During 8-bit however I had a NES (and MSX), never seen a Master System in my life.

My number-one complaint: the voices. Gah-damn this shit. Yeah, it's in all of the Super Mario Advance games, but it's so annoying.

Erm, never had this problem and I've played the game pretty extensively. :/

Most pre SP GBA titles look 'washed out' to compensate for the screen. This is a bit of a problem when comparing SMB2 and YI on GBA to the SNES versions also.

Anywhere specifically? I've actually never had this problem either though I've got every inch of SMW pretty much memorized by now... I do remember this being a huge problem in GBC SMB DX however (but not the Advance releases).

He's pattered after the SMB2 Luigi, he also jumps higher and runs slower than Mario and has different fire/Yoshi characteristics now.

Agreed, sound is kind of a step back in all the SNES to GBA ports so far (except Megaman & Bass miraculously).

Yeah, the game's a little light on enhancements and bonus content compared to the other Mario Advance games too (especially YI & SMB3).
