I'm thinking of maybe getting a 32X to put on my Genesis because my LCD TV doesn't like the Genesis output at all. I just don't remember, from way back when I had one, if the output was better or if it was the same. If someone can help me on this one.....

it seemed the same to me. unless you were going from Genesis RF to 32X composite.

otherwise I think Genesis composite to 32X composite was roughly the same.

I haven't hooked up my 32x to the cdx for a while but i remember a pass thru cable from video out on the cdx to video in on the 32x. IQ was still so so. Of course the genesis also supports RGB out of the box and that's pretty damn sweet on the genesis/megadrive.

Is that Genesis 1 or 2 (or 3) ?

I don't have RGB inputs on my TV anyways, but it could be something interesting to play with.

not sure if all of them supports but the first one does. I believe all of them do. Never tried it on the CDX though.

Genesis technically supported S-Video, but I don't recall if it was via a mythical cable or a hardware mod. An acquaintance I lost touch with claimed to have one of the MD S-Vid cables, but I never actually saw it with my own eyes.

I think there was a $99 or so box sold in Japan that would output MD S-Video, too. I vaguely remember seeing it in Akihabara in 2002. Was it by Micomsoft?

The Genesis/Mega Drive is capable of an S-Video mod (certain models). As for the 32X, there's absolutely no increase in picture quality.

You might be interested to know that I wired up a Genesis pad for my arcade sticks today. It's shockingly easy. With a "little" work, you could use them MAS's on the Genny.

I'll be playing Streets of Rage 3 with Sanwa parts inside a month.
