After an uncharacteristically productive period in 2001 and 2002, during which they released their first albums in five years, Weezer have been taking things relatively slow, perhaps taking extra care to ensure that their long-gestating (and still forthcoming) fifth full-length exceeds the expectations of their notoriously hardass fanbase. Since December of 2003, Weezer had been in and out of the studio with producer Rick Rubin working on new material, to varying degrees of success. However, the band has now scrapped the results of those sessions, in favor of new material they began work on three weeks ago. According to a post on Weezer.com, the group has been in the studio for much of August laying down songs from scratch.

hahaha how many times have they done this now??? This album will never come out, will it??

This is odd, as some of those demos were freakin' awesome. Oh well, just means more songs from the =W=. I am a fan for lyfe, and will basically buy whatever they put out, no matter how good or bad.

I swear with all of these unreleased songs they now have stock piled, Rivers is like the Tupac of Emo.

1. The songs they are recording right now for the album are NOT new, they are from earlier this year, and possibly from late last year.

2. Rubin is still helping, although it's anyone guess if his name will be in the credits or not

3. The demos you are refering to haven't been album-candidates for nearly two years. Thank God.

Man-o-man, just release it already. Or at least make some kind of b-sides album or...something. Well, as long as the record is good, it doesn't bother me. But this does seem kind of weird. Duke Nukem Weezer might be correct.
