At my work computer, for the last few months every day I'll be working and a dos-box will pop up suddenly, run some quick task and close in under 2 seconds. I've never seen anything like this in my history of computers!

Ran all the virus/malware stuff and nothing comes up. Have no idea what this is. Is there any way to force the box to stay open so I can read what's being executed? I guess I could get a auto-screenshot program and have it take screenshots every 30 milliseconds, but then there'd be so many pictures in a day. Any other ways to figure out what could be running and closing?

You should check Task Scheduler. If it's at the same time every day it's probably in there.

seems like one of the programs that you are running, whether or not you know it is running, is doing some sort of call that requires the dos box to open.

usually only see that when you are installing something or updating something if at all...


if it is a work computer, maybe there's some sort of thing your IT department initiates everyday.

You might be able to look at the windows task scheduler and see if anything is on there.
