while halo 2 obviously didn't invent dual wielding, bungie may have - their marathon games are the oldest fps's with dual wielding i can think of. i don't remember if marathon 1 had it, but 2 and infinity definitely did. they also had epic firefights between groups of npc's and intricate plots. ahead of their time in a lot of ways.
