What’s the hold up on the Activision games on GP?

i don't even know what they could add outside of old CoD games. Most of their stuff is licensing hell. It probably pisses them off when people play those old CoDs because you can't beg your milf for the debit card to buy the snoop dogg smoking a bong skin.

I'm looking through the library now they really do have a lot of licensed games holy shit lol

sadly this on both points i have most of the cods but have not grab vanguard and new mw 2 and 3 yet hoping they be on gp by now and what is taking so dam long with sekiro.

They made so many licensed games over the years they probably can't add much other than old COD campaigns. I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to replay some of the older ones but it's not something that I would play.

I've never played a COD game before and I've been hoping they'd add them to Game Pass. I'd love to play through some of the shorter campaigns.

People would flock to Black Ops 2 and Xbox can't monetize it with micro transactions.

You do know BLOPS 2 and actually any COD from COD 2 is on the store right? They are not on gamepass but you can still purchase the 360 versions for small change.

Make GUN backwards compatible and put it on Gamepass you COWARDS

I don't care if it's the OG Xbox version or the 360 version, I just want GUN

Yes of course but the community is small. You can still get team deathmatch games but nothing else.

On gamepass there would be many more players
This is the reason the games are not on GamePass yet. A new COD is coming out in a few months and you don't want to risk people abandoning it after a few weeks to play the classics.

Not sure why single player games cant be ported though

PC is the reason why. None of Activsion game are on the windows store which is what Gamepass PC uses. MS is probably porting over their games slowly and most likely fixing some issues with the old COD games since there are a lot of vulnerabilities on the PC version. They did not have this issue with Bethesda because all of Bethesda titles were already on the Windows store.

They should have released what they could to console game pass 2 weeks after the deal closed in October (like Bethesda), Diablo 3, 3, 2R, crash, Spyro, any CoDs they were contractually allowed to. Instead they went on to have their worst holiday hardware sales in over a decade. Microsoft Gaming seems to care more about the PC platform than the console at this point.

What do you think they are waiting for?
That Activision deal cost the Xbox/Gaming department a shit ton of money and I think higher ups at Microsoft (not Xbox) who subsidised Xbox's business for a long time now want something in return or at least drastically reduced costs.

Putting games on Game Pass don't generate money per se. It only does if you convert non-GP users to GP users. But how many Xbox owners aren't already GP users? How many can you realistically convert? Is it enough to make enough money back?

I think Xbox put itself in a difficult position because people think they've signed up for Activision games as well with Game Pass. If MS does that they will make less money than they would by selling the games. If they don't put up these games on GP there's a risk of loosing subscriptions.

They fixed the 360 servers for a lot of the older games a few months ago, so many speculate they are planning something for these old games.

Would make sense to port them to UWP through the Windows store instead, should be a lot more secure against client side exploit. They are pretty old games so I'm not sure how feasible that is.

Kind of getting silly at this point, all the back catalog COD games should be on gamepass by now. Do they want extra subs or not?

Integrating a company that was acquired takes a long time. Usually more than a year. The finances are usually the first and that takes maybe 6 months. Once that is done it is easy to add a game to Gamepass, but before that it really isn't. Diablo probably took a lot of work with accounting.

There is also a strategic component. CoD is huge. They will likely drop old ones with a big marketing push. It might be that they want that to coincide with Black ops IIIIII.

Because its a shitload of games that you can make more money from by selling them. Or when Xbox steps on a rake again, they can make an "exciting announcement".

Yeah something is different compared to how they did it with Bethesda. They quickly put all those games on gamepass not long after the acquisition. Not sure what the plan is this time. Surely the cod direct would have been the perfect time to mention something about it, but we heard nothing.

I'm guessing is the same scenario with EA and the F1 games: Soon as they bought Codemasters all the old games were delisted.

Meaning: "We want you to play and spend money on the last one".

Edit: Id love for them to re-open the BC program and dump all those titles allegedly impossible to add due to license issues.

There are plenty of games on GamePass that don't support PC or don't support cloud. There have even been some that don't support Xbox. It's never been a requirement.

They should at least get the Crash Bandicoot stuff up.

If they wanted more GP subs and more game revenue, they should have added all existing COD games to GP, but keep the newest version off to maximise sales. As it is, they've got the newer one on GP which may / may not push GP subs, whilst the others are nowhere to be seen. Pretty sure sales on those would be negligible now, so at least put them to work and benefit from it somewhere!

I mean, outside of the COD games and not even talking last-gen/BC games, there's Spyro trilogy, Crash trilogy, Tony Hawk 1+2, Crash Team Racing, etc.. etc..

It's definitely weird, because it's not just CoD games. There are a lot of different games from this or last generation which shouldn't need any additional preparation, because they're already available for purchase on modern systems.

Maybe Activision had some additional deals with Sony, not just about making Cod "better" on PS consoles. Offering ABK titles would greatly improve the value of Game Pass and besides their classics from 10+ years ago aren't selling in big numbers anymore.
