What About Making Some New Forums??

Well, I know that this is www.gaming-age.com, but what about making some new forums, based around Off-Topic... things like:

a) Off-Topic
b) Tech Questions
c) Debate
d) Music and Musicians

What do you think??

I understand having one OT forum, but it helps to sort them out, don't you think? It gets tiresome sometimes having to post questions that only one reply will be put underneath it. So just have a forum where all questions and tech-stuff are posted, and then if anyone needs help, they can just check there.

And then yeah, an online gaming forum, where people can meet up, make clans, schedule practices etc without disturbing the social structure of the OT forum.

Just a thought.

The forum is already too split up as it is. Gaming and OT is all that is needed.

If the moderators do their jobs that won't happen
Well then it would mean assigning moderators to certain forums. i don't know how the mod system is structured here, so it might work, and it might not.

Can't you see that this place is overrun with insecure, change-fearing nincompoops? There's no way anyones gonna agree to change anything, just by the insanity that may ensue...I actually heard there was a sharp spark in the national death rate when the forums had been offline for a few days.

More forums == people posting more crap to fill them
Actually, what happens in most cases is that more forums == less populated and more empty forums, which is one thing I'm glad not to see on gaf.

All through life, I've been told that there's no such thing as a stupid question.

I'm glad that one was finally proven wrong.

EXACTLY. That's why multiple divided forums is a bad idea.

Yup, that tends to be how it works. I really like the setup here, even if there end up being updates to 4 pages of threads between the time I leave for work and my return. It's a little annoying filtering through it all, but it's better than the alternative. If the forums were split up more, I probably would just end up not seeing a lot of interesting threads.

- I'd like to not have to surf different forums at the same time.
- More forums = much more needless work for mods. (moving threads, etc...)
- I know I won't be surfing the tech forum. But what if somebody asks something tech-related and I'm in the position to answer? They lose the help. Same for music q's.
- We're gonna have to guess which forum our new topics go to, which is a pain.

If the forums had started off divided, it wouldn't be such a problem, because the communities for each would have been built from the ground up. But dividing the community as it is now into different categories will cause a lot of unneeded confusion.

The only thing that's ever even been under *consideration* was an Online Gaming forum. Don't count on anything else being a possibility.

I think adding an Online Gaming Forum and a Buying/Selling Forum would be great additions.

Anything that would divide the Off-Topic forum seems unneeded.

i say we make a hockey forum, where we can continue to bash football, baseball and basketball all day long without getting interrupted.
