I've been listening to a lot of "The Cure" and "Depeche Mode" lately.

I picked up Interpol's CD a little while ago, but so far I'm not overly thrilled. I'll have to give it a few more rounds, but Turn on the Bright Lights seems much better so far.

I'm not much of an UNKLE fan, but I've been playing "In A State" and "What Are You To Me?" off their most recent record over and over again. The Sasha remixes of both are outstanding, by the way.

Other things on the playlist tend to be mostly electronic these days, though I've been on a U2 kick again, and fell back in love with Paul Simon the other day:

Carte Blanche Volume 3, Naked Music (mix)
Paris Under A Groove (compilation)
Ovum: Fall Collection (mix by Josh Wink)
Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, M83
A Strangely Isolated Place, Ulrich Schnauss
Achtung Baby, U2
Thunder, Lightning, Strike, The Go! Team
There Goes Rhymin' Simon, Paul Simon

Talking Heads: The Name of This Band is Talking Heads
B00008O32S.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Gorky's Zygotic Mynci: 20 Singles and EP's Totally awesome; you fuck-faces should really check this band out. Their music is best classified as psychotic folk that sometimes sounds pleasant, but then sounds chaotic and bizarre. Their later albums are pretty quaint, but you know, their earlier stuff isn't. I LIKE THEM A LOT. Oh, and they're Welsh.

By the way. GG Duo, you need to listen to Apples in Stereo & Dressy Bessy. As much as I love Of Montreal, I love those two way more. Those two are the cream of the crop of all the Elephant Six stuff, along with Neutral Milk Hotel.

Songs you should get:

Dressy Bessy: New Song (From Me to You), If You Should Try to Kiss Her, There's a Girl, Flower Jargon, Live to Tell All, Extra-Ordinary, Big to Do, That's Why, All the Right Reasons, You Stand Here, Jenny Come On, Look Around.. and every other song they've done.

Apples: Tidal Wave, Lucky Charm, Glowworm, Dots 1-2-3, and, like, I'm not as into them as Dressy Bessy, and can't think of songs off the top of my head... um, just get Fun Trick Noisemaker and Tone Soul Evolution, and probably The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone, and yeah, fuck, rock out.

i go to psu and we got napster for free, so i've got a nice playlist going on. it could be dubbed "they might be british..." as it features u2, coldplay, the cure, pink floyd, and the talking heads.

I dunno, man. I really really enjoy Of Montreal. The Gay Parade and Satanic Panic are probably on the top of my "Albums I Listened to This Year" list. It'd be hard to imagine other stuff topping it.

But i'll still check it out, thanks. :D

Even if you don't end up liking them as much as Of Montreal, I'm sure you'll still enjoy them a fair bit! :>

GREAT choice. Intensify is still one of my all-time favorite albums, especially in the "music to work out to" category.

Have you picked up their latest album (Don't Look Now) yet? It's outstanding, though perhaps not as intense (no pun intended) as the previous album. The bonus mix CD included (at least in the U.S. version) is good, too.

damn, what the hell is atriyu anyway?
they got some guttural stuff broken up by cheesy hard rock melodies...i dont get it. pretty catchy though...
also, cursive - the ugly organ, kicks ass.
mos def's new album has some great tracks, but there are lots of throw away stuff in there as well :/
can anyone recommend me bands that sound similar to The Rapture? I've been listening to the two earlier albums by The Faint (Dance Macabre and Blanc Wave Arcade), both albums are very good, but the songs sound too similar. Anyway, they sorta reminded me of The Rapture, so I was wondering if here were other bands with this sort of disco sound.
