I finally broke down and got this game, and from the moment I booted it up I knew it was going to be a weird experience. The sonic and visual style of this game is very strange. I can't help thinking obscure, high-minded but deeply atmospheric late-'70s science fiction movie - kind of Tron meets Serial Experiment Lain. The graphical style, meanwhile, reminds me of old 16-bit action-adventure classics like Out of this World and Flashback. The way it all adds up makes this a game that should at least be experienced. The trouble seems to be that the big rental chains haven't bothered to stock it, and Capcom didn't release a demo version, either. So people might have gotten intimidated by the hype.

But they shouldn't. This game is simple, almost too simple. It's technically a third-person action-adventure game, but it's on rails and basically controls like a PC adventure game - press up to move through the room, tap down to turn around. When you get into combat, you press the R-trigger to enter a FPS-style shooter mode with excellent lock-on and a level of sensitivity that is just about right.

I would write more, and I will, but for now I want to keep playing. :D

4 bux!

Grandia I (PSOne)
Grandia Xtreme (PS2)
Geist (GCN)
Mario Superstar Baseball (GCN)
Rebelstar Tactical Command (GBA)
Pac 'n Roll (NDS)
Advance Wars DS (NDS)

I'm playing World of Warcraft for fun, and I'm trudging through my review copy of Urban Reign, which isn't much fun.

occasional rounds of chikyuu boeigun 2. plus i wanna replay aria of sorrow before castlevania ds comes out. but mainly i've been refreshing gaf and obsessing over the mgs4 trailer. :/

I just made this thread yesterday wtf

1. Eyetoy Play 2: Gotta find the camera, but it looks good. Figure it'll be an interesting review.
2. Ratchet Deadlocked: Playing the beta, hate it. They screwed up the controls wildly, and it doesn't even feel like the multiplayer and single player bits are the same build.
3. Dynasty Warriors 4: Finally made the dive and bought this used. It's pretty cool so far.
4. Astro Boy - Omega Factor: HARD AS HELL compared to the Japanese version, jeez.
5. Mr. Driller Drill Land - Don't like it at all. :\
6. Taiko Drum Master - Shitty as a taiko game, great as a marching snare game due to the sensors.
7. Meteos - Still in my DS and it still rox!

Dungeon Siege 2. Dunno why I'm addicted to this game, but I am. Loot! Stats!

Radiata Stories. COLLECTORITIS. I know, I know; I'm a total anime fag. I lose.

Burnout Revenge. Yes, it's not a racing game any more. It's still ridiculously fun, and has some of the best track design/layouts EVER.

Urban Reign. Not as bad the reviews would have you believe; in fact, if you think of it not as Final Fight 3D but as a blown-up version of Soul Calibur's Edge Master mode with an engine of middling depth designed to facilitate multi-character fights, it's actually really good -- and pretty! Hard, but not frustratingly so.

Burnout Revenge (PS2)-loads and loads of fun. A complete blast.

Dragon Quest VIII demo-piddling around on it still. Anticipating the full game.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2)-Got this new for $15 the other day, love it. Reliving a lot of great memories. Mega Man 2 FTW!

Burnout Revenge PS2 version - because I want good looking blur, lightning and sparks (Gamespot can lick my balls, this is the best looking version). Not as cool as Burnout Takedown, I'd prefer more racing. Looks fucking good though and the track design totally rocks.

Burnout Legends - I'm surprised by how much I like this one, kinda like an extended, portable Burnout3 with old school tracks and cars. Get a PSP for this one.

Jak X combat racing demo - I'd like to enjoy this one. Truly, I want to but something is wrong with this game... maybe the finished product will be better....
Note to Naughty Dog: Why not make a Crash Team Racing rip-off with Jak characters, this game was the perfect alternative to the original Mario Kart. Oh and the "Road Rage" kind of copy isn't nearly as cool as in Burnout.

Shadow of the Colossus demo - I want this damn game.

My buddies and I have been Smash Bros Meele'ing almost every night after work for about a month now.... this game just keeps coming back and now we are dl'ing pro videos at work we are so addicted :lol

Smash Meele
Mario Baseball
Advance Wars
Meteos
Jump Super Stars

Still waiting for your post, and Himu's promised post from yesterday.

:lol Yeah, I know. I'm about to go out tonight, I plan on playing for a few hours tomorrow afternoon (Sunday). Don't worry, I haven't forgotten. :)

I've had to work every day since then, but I'm off tomorrow all day.

I just quit WoW, so I'm checking out some stuff I missed while sucked into that. Battlefield 2 is getting the most love.

Your in for a hell of a game. I wish more people would "break down" and give this game a shot. Its doubtful we will ever see a big budget game as intelligent, thought provoking and willing to break with conventions as this one. I know this has been said before but any and all gamers interested in games that aren't the same football/space marines/war/jacking cars should pick this up before the next-gen rolls around and market forces further dictate what types of games will be made.

DS: Nintendogs - Ouendan
PSP: Lumines - Ridge Racer
Cube: F-Zero GX - Soul Calibur II
PS2: Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution - Gitaroo Man

basically portable is 80% of my gaming life right now. Which leaves console gaming to a minimum. Plus annoying flatmate bought new massive WEGA tv and doesn't want me to game on it (it will damage the tube, he says retailer told him). Thanks god I'm moving out..

I've been playing Mario Power Tennis (GCN) and Fire Emblem (GBA). Getting to the end with FE, enjoying a resurgence for MPT.

Just finnished Klonoa2 and plan to start up Burnout Revenge. Colin McRae 2005 and RBR on PC once a day.

Burnout Legends. (Just got it today, it roooocks....)
Ridge Racer
Virtua Tennis
Lumines

Yes, My PSP is providing all of my gaming enjoyment at the moment.
