What are your thoughts about Splinter Cell 3's soundtrack?

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Amon Tobin's "Chaos Theory" is now out, and I'm listening to it as I write this.

Pretty damn awesome album in itself, but I don't know how well it will fit to a game, as it sounds more like a soundtrack for a weird horror game/movie than anything. Think your usual Amon Tobin material, but even darker and more sinister. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole game takes place in the complete darkness, this time around.

In any case, this is the stuff I see myself listening to in the next few days/weeks, alongside with Chemical Brothers' new album.

It's also worth noting that songs are all quite simillar (that's actually one negative I have against the album itself), and depending on how they used them in the game could be good or bad. I.E. if the game has standard level structure like previous two, it might make the levels sounding too simillar to each other (that's why I said it wouldn't surprise me the whole game takes place in darkness)

Well, I have the CD...

You could go to Amazon.com or some such place and listen to the samples I guess. Maybe an official site has a song or two?

Good samples. "The Lighthouse", "El Cargo" and "Clean Up" are probably my favorite songs on the album.

In any case, this is one of the very, VERY few original game soundtracks one doesn't have to feel stupid about listening to.

For some reason, I wished Jesper Kyd would score a SC game

DAMN RIGHT!

That guy makes amazing music. Man the music from the first stage of Hitman 2 is soo memorable! I will never forget that tune. He did some fantastic work on Freedom Fighters and Hitman Contracts too!

Jesper Kyd rocks!

This is a VERY cool album, I must say. It has certainly stirred my interest in the game it was created for as well...

I think it could fit well with the game if used properly, but I'm not sure how skilled the team working on the game is when it comes to such things. Splinter Cell lacked the kind of polish needed to really leave an impact and the music may end up feeling tacked on.

I just hope the game itself has undergone some major design changes. The first two titles featured very flawed single player adventures...

As for the last note, I also believe that Jesper Kyd would be a great choice for this type of game. His music was a huge part of what made the atmosphere in Hitman Contracts so good. I think a "Contracts"-style electronic soundtrack would work beautifully in the context of SC...

yeah this is cool! I love "El Cargo." Awesome stuff, but only ten tracks? Whats up with that? I hope the game will have more music.

Good samples. "The Lighthouse", "El Cargo" and "Clean Up" are probably my favorite songs on the album.

yes, same here. Good stuff

Just as a note i've tested this game from last August until early March 2k5 and i wasn't tired of the music just yet.
This indeed means something. I think it's well integrated don't worry.
