I’ve seen it listed as a PS2 title and a PSP title.

Is it a traditional RPG, action RPG, interactive novel or what?

I know that Zack is the main character.

Are there screenshots or videos available anywhere?

Bascially, it's vaporware.

Until Square-Enix actually decides to show us something, I'm putting it in same pile of games that include Mario 128, Metroid Dread, and a good 3D castlevania.

It's a PSP action RPG. Originally set for early 2006, it's been delayed to tba 2006. That's about all we know...

Dengeki PS magazine has reported a interview of the development progress on Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core.

Mr. Kitase:

Scenario part is almost completed. But there is still some distance to the content publishing phase.
The story is a complementarity to the main story, not a prelude or postscript.
Zacks is deeply involved.
Detailed depiction on the story.
The story is deployed on the peripheral events, but not limited.
Mr. Nomura:

Working prototype is done, checking the battle control ability.
Scenario is worked out for making the plot.
Normal scenario is slated for the PSP too, but the gameplay is not similar to any home console games.
Not limited to side depiction of the FF7.
You don’t have to know the story of FF7 before playing this game.
A big publication is slated for E3.
