Ok, at first, people were whining that a touch screen/having two screen was just a gimmick. Then, games like Wario Ware come out and show some cool stuff that the touch screen, as well as the rest of the sytem, can do. Now people complain that there's too much touching and not enough "subtance". So, what I want to know is, how do you want games in the future to take advantage of the DS's features?
Some things to consider:
-How much touch screen interaction do you want?
-How much mic interaction do you want?
-What kind of things could be done with the screens?
-What can be done with the download/multiplayer aspect?
-You don't have to say online multiplayer, because it's been discussed to death.
Personally, I'd like to see games that stick more to the conventional controls, and use the touch screen in cases where it would make things easier (like touching a menu choice, or an on screen keyboard type thing). I like the idea of using the bottom screen for a map, and maybe adding some touch controls for it (zoom, rotate, etc.). For example, remember in Super Mario Kart how the bottom half of the screen HAD to be the map or a rear view mirror? Well, I remember planting a banana peel right in front of the ramp in Mario Circuit 2, and then watching someone fall for it on the map. That helped to stop the default 1st place person when you needed more than 3 points to finish the cup in first. I think Zelda would also benefit from this, with the main game at the top screen and inventory/map/treasure on the touch screen. Think of how much time you'd save since you wouldn't have to pause and look for whatever it is you need... of course, you'd still be able to pause if you were in the middle of a battle or something.
So, what do you think?
