What do you think will happen next in the rest of 2025, in gaming?

Just for fun. Post some random thoughts on this.
I think TGA will be the biggest yet;
Nintendo having a side-scrolling game like Mario Wonder;
Video of Mark Cerny talking about new tech improvements in PS5

TGA is first and foremost a public celebration of videogame developers and not a venue for product promotion though some developers feel compelled to give fans a gift in the spirit of the event.

NG4 and MGS3 Delta end up competing for my real GOTY over Clair 33.

That would be something since Clair is looking to be my game of the gen so far.

After the September stealth drop of Half Life 3, Gabe AI will begin patching modern releases on Steam. Removing the purple bisexual lighting and visual design. Rewriting the stories and replacing the characters. Deleting Unreal 5 and blessing every game with the angelic MSAA found in Alyx. Avowed will become everything we fantasized about in 2009 that an Obsidian Elder Scrolls could be. TLOU2 will feature Joel using his western fatherly instincts to protect Ellie and further the cause of rebooting humanity. God of War becomes a direct sequel to GoW 3 and holds the title of the grandest visual spectacle in the history of gaming. The Halo Infinite campaign becomes the direct successor to Halo CE in terms of design, aesthetic and feeling. Agreed upon and adored by fans old and new. And much much more. No stone left unturned. Not a single beloved franchise, vandalized by its new developers, remains in its broken and ugly state. Hell, AI no longer even lets those people use the internet for anything.

We just gotta hold on for a couple more months fellas.

Do you think Bananza will have it instead?
Completed it. No. It's amazing and I loved it.

But even if Clair 33 didn't exist I would still give my GOTY to KCD2 then. 127 hours of pure gaming bliss there.

I would say Clair 33, KCD2, bananza, then DS2.

Is there still anything big and interesting coming out this year? There's nothing on my radar.
MGS3 Delta
WuChang
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
Shinobi
Ninja Gaiden 4
Borderlands 4
Metroid Prime 4

Just a few cool games to keep on your radar.

John Carmack, Hideo Kojima, Hidetaka Miyazaki and Gabe Newell buy a fleet of mega yachts, sail them deep into international waters and create a new gaming company. Hardware and software.

"Is it a PC or console?"

"Yes"

Monolith Soft announce their new game (hopefully)
Sounds like it, could be!
I have never played Xenoblade series but I do really like the anime style there, have watched Xeno 3 walkthrough on YT though, some years ago
And by the way - Anime and anime style games - only with Japanese dub

That depends n the setting and if English voice acting is good or not.

Switch 2 will dominate hardware sales.

Sony will put more games on competing platforms.

Aaron Greenberg will still have a job at marketing for Xbox.

Xbox will do more stupid stuff to further cement them leaving hardware without acknowledging them leaving hardware. Jez and Colt will defend Xbox and say they are doing great.

What's the game length in E33? And did you finish Bananza?
If you stick with main story its not long maybe 25-30 hours but there A LOT to do in this game which can extend your play time.

No I havent finished Bananza, I have to find every Bananas and fossils before moving next layer and I love it.

New game announcement from Monolithsoft with a 2026 release date, along with XBC 1, 2 & 3 getting Switch 2 performance patches.
Firm release date for Persona 4: R (likely end of 2026 or beginning of 2027)
Persona 6 tease
Credible Rumors that GTA VI will be further delayed, possibly into late 2026 or early 2027

What I'd love to see: A Digital Devil Saga 1&2 remaster annoucement

I watch anime only in Japanese dub
To me vey much depends…for example english dub for Fullmetal Alchemist was REALLY good, I like it more than Japanese dub, same with Mushshi and Death Note.

But show like One Piece I absolutely watch them in Japanese voice, they are too good and iconic….I cant even imagine watching One Piece in English dub.

More layoffs and closures, more games, more VPs, and fanboys vomiting baseless facts. Bethesda will announce a game that's a quarter century from being released.

No idea so I am am just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. However, I think a safe prediction is mini and handheld PCs are going to become more popular. Not console-like numbers but a significant increase in where they are now. I also think this could lead to better adoption of alternate OS and launchers. Again, a significant increase in where they are now. I am not saying Steam is going to dethrone Windows. These opinions might be bias because I have decided this is the direction I am headed.

Unless I'm missing something, we're about the enter the second holiday season in a row without a single truly big game. Borderlands 4 and a Metal Gear Remake. Metroid Prime 4 is really the only chance we have, but for some reason I think it'll get delayed. Even then, it's pretty fucking sparse considering this should be the absolute prime years of PS5 and Xbox Series.

That depends what you consider "big games", if you mean AAA or AAAA western games then sure but for me games like Expedition 33 and DK Bananza were big games, I was more excited for these games then I ever was for GTA6…..and they did not disappoint.

I'm the same, but I did mean AAA. Just in terms of looking at the health of the industry. I'll get tons of mileage out of Delta but I doubt it sells a ton. Lost track of which COD is coming out this year.

Times like this I'm glad I wasn't allowed to trade or sell my Steam games. 😅 Catalog is all I got left. I remember in PS2 era I was keen to keep them moving through GameStop before the trade-in value went below $30.

lol the only thing AAA about COD nowadays is it's marketing. It's just rumberstamped cookie cutter bullshit now.

To me AAA (especially western) is the one is actually damaging health of industry since they too over budget and takes forever to come out, we need more AA games more than anything.

I remember playing DQ11 some years back, and it was set on English dub, cast was so good and emotional, but no...anime feels better to me with Japanese dubs, because how the language sounds. It just feels right, since it's anime's country
