Aren't they the largest playing card maker in Japan?
I think I remember reading that here.

They also do Go and Shogi boards, and hanafuda cards.

Oh, and Hiroshi Yamauchi is the primary owner of the Seattle Mariners.

EDIT: Primary? Majority? I'm not sure, not much of a baseball fan.

How about Konami? Don't they make exercise machines? I know they're WAY bigger than a video game company.

Yeah, Sega still has Joypolis.

Yes, Konami is in the exercise/physical fitness business. In fact they run quite a few Konami Sports Clubs. I know there is one big one right next to the Nishi-Funabashi train station.

They make casino equipment and trinkets, I think

Konami makes poker machines, as well as other non-gaming stuff... in fact, Konami Australia does nothing but sell poker machines, they don't distribute their video games here themselves, instead, they get Atari to distribute it for them.

haven't heard of Nintendo making any casino-related stuff though.

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but I think Nintendo invested in Chuck E. Cheese, a love hotel and something involving alleys (bowling?).

Well, when I was in grade school I had Nintendo frames. The case had Mario on it. But I think that's a license, not really manufacturing, although I could easily be wong.

They made cards, arcades and they had something where they had fun (I don't know why, but you can't find this thing on Nintendo-Europe.com in the history :D )

I've seen glasses at various vision stores, like Pear Vision and other places, with nintendo stickers across the lenses. Don't know what thats all about.

Konami has a pretty big chain of gyms in Japan and Nintendo still makes cards. I bought some a few years ago.

Fortunately Nintendo doesn't "dabble" in much else outside the video game industry. This is where Sony is at a major disadvantage. Sony is getting to big for their own good and are now suffering the cosequences as a result. Nintendo is a very focused company that can adjust accordingly to the industry. They don't have to worry about a fickle film industry and robotics industry. Nintendo is the only company I respect at this point in time. I truly hate these multi-tier octopus corporations. Soon, and probably sooner than you think, many will be glad Nintendo didn't dabble in non-video game ventures when the likes of Sony and others are franticly trying to cut their losses in other sectors.
