What game should I get for Xbox 360?

I´m at this moment buying my pre-order for Xbox 360 from a online shop from the lovely land of Canada. I have got an ultimate pack, a VGA cable and Kameo, that is the only game from launch I´m truly convinced I want for starting my way in console next generation (It´s not a deep game, sure, but I got very surprised with it at TGS, it had a every epic feeling and I loved how it looked, especially with all that dragons flying around. Having a absolutely fantastic B.S.O helps as well).

But I want another game I reckognise that I don´t really know what I want. I have almost discarded Perfect Dark after I knew there is only 13 missions on story mode... I pass, I don´t want a game designed mostly for Live! (and I don´t know if I will be able to connect to the service with a region one system from Europe). Then there is DOA 4, but I´m not very excited about how it looks and I want something that shows the true potential of the system.

I would take eNchant Arms, that was another big surprise for me at the TGS. I don´t think it´s going to shake the RPG world and its combat system, while fun, was quite simple. But it looked stunning. Unfortunately It´s not avaliable at launch out of Japan and I prefer to get an american Xbox 360 over a japanese one.

I don´t want antother PGR (ok, It´s a nice game and all, but I like racing games fast and furious, very arcade so PGR 2 didn´t suit with me at all). Then there is Ridge Racer 6 that it feels like the best one for being my second game as it was really nice, fast and smoth in the TGS demo. But I played to the death to the PSP one and it felt like the same with advanced graphics.

And I have no desire to buy a 180 game. So even if I´m interested on Gun or Tomb Raider, I don´t want them for being my first titles

So, I would like to hear whoever who want to share his opinion about launch games of Xbox 360 and why he likes one or another. It could help me to choose.

(Please, keep this clean, just talk about the games you like or are interested)

I really don't know you're getting it at this point when none of the gams one the horizon seem that enticing.

I know you don't want a PGR game, and I'm not exactly a fan of the series (I don't hate it or anything, I just don't have much of an opinion), but I really can't see how 3 doesn't get you excited (mind you, I don't mind the 30fps as much as others).

No, but I want to hear about your opinion, I want to know what games makes you feel excited and why. I have given my initial thoughts, but I want to hears yours. Maybe I change my idea and takes one or another because this thread, even if I didn´t feel to at beginning.

CoD2 should be quite fun and looks pretty nice, though not stunning.

Quake 4 also has received good review comments for its single player campaign, if that's what you're focusing on.

Condemned looks really great, but I worry it'll be too short.

Dead or Alive 4 looks really nice as well, but it's not a big departure from older DoA games, so gauge the potential fit by that.

Then, there are the sports games. Madden, NBA Live, NBA 2K6, Tiger Woods Golf, etc.

Also, realize that Oblivion should be out during December, so that shouldn't be far from the launch date.

Forgive me for my english.

I know a lot of people are going NOT to appreciate this but the question is not "What game should I get for Xbox 360?" but "Should I buy X360 at launch, considering the available titles?"

The answer is "No" imho.

There are A LOT of titles that were postponed in recent weeks, and in this list there are major titles too.

Moreover, there are titles not pushed back yet, that we are not sure will be in the shops on release date.

I really don't like this policy, M$.
I have many friends that saw the pics of these games a lot of time ago, checked the "available titles on launch date" and went to preorder Xbox. Every day they have bad news. Every day they have to push themselves not to give that preorder up (many shops don't give you the money back).

I don't want to flame but I think X360's is going to be one of the worst lauch ever.
It doesn't mean that it is not going to sell a lot (and I don't trust it neither) but i'm sure many customers will be disappointed, at list in the first months.

I know that many of you could say "What about the PS2's japanese launch? Fantavision, Aliased Ridge Racer V,... poor titles considering other launch lists of the past". I agree, but it was a PS2, a lot of people were going to buy it in any case, sure of the success of the console.

I've seen two titles in a recent show in Milan (DOA and PGR3). What can i say?
Considering my aspectatives they were pure shit. Not considering it, they were XBox 1.5 titles.

My suggestion: wait, Wait for some good titles, wait for a price drop, wait to see the system at your friend's and judge it without havin in your mind this idea: "I need a next gen console".

My 2 cents.

I'm looking forward to Condemned and Oblivion the most. I might also pick up DOA4. Check out the 2 part Condemned footage at Blim's site. It's pretty amazing.

Which ones? I think the only delay announcement that was unknown and came out recently was for Saint's Row. I thought The Outfit and Full Auto had been announced to ship early next year months ago.

This happens for EVERY SINGLE console launch. As M$$$$ has continually stated, no launch day lineup has been announced before a month or so ahead of the launch date. It's usually 2-3 weeks before that they can release a definite list. It's no different from any other console launch.

The rest is a bunch of obviously personal preference stuff which I won't debate, but calling PGR3 an "Xbox 1.5" game is quite ignorant.

PGR3 guarantees that I'll be buying this sytem next month. That's a true killer app for me.

I would love to see release dates though. A printout from GameStop doesn't cut it for me.

No, sorry, but I said it. I don´t want this, this is not intended for a evaluation of the launch policies of Microsoft. This will lead to "no, it´s the best launch ever", "DOA 4 sucks", "Perfect Dark sucks boonga boonga wall boy ahoy".

I appreciate what you are trying to do, you are just given your opinion and I thank you for it (graccie), but please, keep this barely related. Just games, just what do you think of them and why you are anticipating them. (If it´s not too late).

Is there a list of confirmed launch games? Im thinking of getting a 360 but dont know which games are launch.

Nope... there's a launch window lineup.

They definitely need to release a launch day lineup soon.

aside from kameo (which you sound already sold on)...

pgr3 - first, i'm a huge fan of the series. secodnly, it just looks damn incredible. i'm not sure how you can like racing games, arcade ones specifically, and not find appeal in pgr. pgr3 has only super cars, so immediately you'll get to race with your favorite dream car, and wont have to earn a car you actually want to drive in via progression using soccer mom vans. its a no brainer

cod2 - unfortunately, i dont have a gaming pc, so i havent checked out the pc version, but i'm excited for the 360 version because of the intensity of the gun fights. after watching many vids and seeing the game in person at e3, i know that this will get the adrenaline flowing, as battles are PACKED with combatants, all yelling out orders, explosions and gun fire everywhere. this should be particularly intense if you have a surround sound set up.

rr6 - again, bg fan of the series, its another no brainer. while pics make it look pretty poor, kikizo and blim's high res, 60fps vids show its true colors (despite being a dull demo with no other cars). what seals the deal is namco's usual incredible polish, presentation, and music.

there are many others that i am interested in too. nba live, 2k6, fifa and madden, to name a few. i'm not the biggest sports fan though, so i'll try to hold off till next years version on those. not long after launch, there should be oblivion, graw, and maybe a few others i'm forgetting. frame city has piqued my interest as well, but thats definitely one i'll wait for actual hands on from someone before commiting.

I'm buying it more because I play all the time with people on LIVE than for the games. The games at launch, anyway. Yea, that's probably not so wise.

-PD0. Personally, looking at the animation and a.i., I think this game looks like poo. But everyone I know is getting it as a launch title. So I guess I am too.

-Oblivion. I think this is the most interesting game, but probably won't be at launch day.

-PGR3. I like the series, but I don't know if I love it. Not that crazy about what I've seen, but again this is a popular launch title with my Live friends.

-CD2. I actually want to play this, and it's sort of a known quantity. So I may get this.

-Kameo. The 2nd best looking launch title, interest wise. Not sure yet.

sorry about the Q, but on which day X360 launches?

This shop I´m looking says 15, not sure if it´s the same than the NA one.

Yes, I´m agree is a fantastic racing game. My biggest problem was that I missed that sense of speed that I enjoy so much, now you say, I played a PAL version, maybe it has something to do, don´t remember how was made the conversion. But I going to check more videos to see what I feel.

PGR3 has custom soundtrack isn´t? that is something I enjoyed a lot from PGR2.

Actually, just fuck off to another thread.

Can we leave this as it is, please?

I think the release dates are as follows:
US/Canada: November 22nd
Europe: December 2nd
Japan: December 12th

It might be good to save some cash for Live Arcade ;)

That is a great idea ;) unfortunately I don´t really know if I will be able to connect myself. I will have to check first if I can connect to Live from here, then I will have to buy the wireless adapator if it´s possible. So, unfortunately, I will have to wait for that.

Yes, you are right, but take on count is just my feeling about it, not a truth.

The problem I see is that they talk a lot about multiplayer. When I went to E3, the Perfect Dark talk with guys from Rare was only for multiplayer, just the features of multiplayer. And then has been a lot of more talking about multiplayer.

I had the hope that, even with all that talking about it, story mode would be developed in a "epic" scale. But when I see there is only 13 levels.. I don´t know I got the feeling that the stoy mode was going to be short and quite unimportant. Then I have bots and all that, but it´s not was looking for.

It´s just an impression, would love to be proven wrong, because I like a lot sci-future games.

I don't care what the graphics are like on PD0. If the multiplayer is half as fun as it was on the N64 then I'm sold.
