What games do you think would never get a sequel on a next-gen console?

Right now I'm calling Drakan: The Ancient Gate for these reasones:

- It never sold that great(sold much worst than Order of the Flame)

- Sony now owns the IP

- Midway now own Surreal.

Herzog Zwei
Wonderboy
Nectaris/Military Madness
Pilotwings
a real Phantasy Star (PSV)
Thunder Force
Daytona USA
Scud Racer
Tokyo Wars
Crystalis
Magician Lord

:lol I immediately thought Drakan as soon as I read the thread title. It's a pity tho, I enjoyed both Drakan games quite a bit.

Of that list, I wouldn't rule out Tokyo War as Namco just recently renewed the trademark to it. Now considering its been like nearly 10 years since the original TW, there might just be good chance of sequel happening.

wow, they actually renewed the trademark for Toyko Wars? maybe its for a compilation, if not a sequel.

Besides Shenmue, I have a good feeling that Jet Set Radio will not see a sequel. And a nagging suspicion that a good Sonic game, or a genuine StarFox game is also not in the cards.

Skies of Arcadia
Wind Waker (the style)
GoldenEye (a true sequel)
Kid Icarus
Sam & Max
Loom

I hope I'm wrong on all counts.

I have a feeling the SaGa series has run its course, at least in the US. I suppose they might still make one more game for Japan where the SaGa name is somewhat more highly regarded. Some of the most famous Sega properties, like Ecco the Dolphin, Jet Set Radio, and Shenmue, are also going through their death throes... and further, at this rate, it's only a matter of time before the Sonic name loses its impact entirely.

Sadly the sequels to Math Quiz and Olympic IQ will never see the light of day

Mario.

*sigh*

Edit: Of course, Mario WILL be there, but not in his own game. :(

Edit 2: Okay, he might have his own game, but it won't be a fucking platformer.

Geist.

Beat the game last night and I have to say that the concept is excellent but the execution was terrible.

If this had been *just* a FPS, the game would have fallen pitifully flat - well below even Medal of Honor on PSX standards.

Man, a new Drakan would've been great. Such potential never realized. :(

Soul Reaver
Brute Force
Tech Romancer
Powerstone
Eternal Darkness
Viewtiful Joe
Crazy Taxi
Jet Set Radio
Turok :lol!

Any of the Capbomb 5 minus Biohazard

Not even Viewtiful Joe? Capcom's showing strong support in the series with two new games (fighting game on multiplatforms, VJ DS). I wouldn't be surprised to see a return to the standard storyline with Viewtiful Joe 3. It's not using sprites, so I just don't see it dying out like that branch of 2D games.

I only have a pick for a game that shouldn't go into the next-gen, and that's Tomb Raider.

God I would love another Soul Reaver

Great games.

I'd love to get another Max Payne myself, but I'm not too sure how likely that is. At the end of MP2 the credits mention there will be another so I have my hopes up.

You will never ever EVER see a sequel to...

The Adventures of Bayou Billy.

Never thought I'd hear that game mentioned. I found my old cart of that when i was searching through my closet. I don't think I've played it since I was maybe 5 or 6. :lol

Games that will never get a true next-gen sequel?
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Yoshi's Island
Castlevania: SOTN
Super Metroid
Shining Force
Sam & Max & other Lucasarts adventure games
Vagrant Story
Duke Nukem 3D
Phantasy Star RPG
Scud Race
Lufia

P.N.03
Beach Spikers
Sega Soccer Slam
I-Ninja

I would kill to see a sequel for any of the first three. P.N.03 has so much potential, multiplayer in Beach Spikers and SSS were fun as hell.

Honestly, you win the thread.

This game seems to be perceived as a mistake even by some of my dearest and influent co-workers. The time when we'll see a new BG&E is fucking far from now... or maybe not all that far -- just wait for the day i'll be in the driver seat.
