Remember when they were the awesomest guys around way back until about the late 90's, then they kinda jumped the shark and became a joke for about six years or so...

But now, it's like "Holy crap, every Midway game looks awesome!"

Did they sell their soul to the devil or something, 'cause this is confounding.

True, UC2 just got a raving preview by IGN, and since the EA NFL agreement and them going back to the Blitz series roots, things are only looking up.

I think they finally realized that they need to keep up with the competition. On the other hand, Shaolin Monks looks rather terrible but I have only seen early screenshots.

It's all thanks to the ex-Playboy boss who was appointed CEO of Midway back in summer 2003. It looks like he turned out to be a great asset after all.

Now let's just get some Hydro Thunder 2 in this bitch. Shit, rerelease the great HT w/o the slowdown even.

So what games does Midway have left in the pipe for this gen...Deception for Cube, Midway Arcade Treasures 3, LA Rush, MK: Shaolin Monks, Area 51, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, Blitz: Playmakers, Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PAL), John Singleton's Fear & Respect, The Suffering Ties That Bind...what else?

They're having a press day tomorrow. I'll let you know if you missed one.

A proper sequel to MK3, with completely 2D graphics and gameplay, and the digitized actors, would just put them way over the top for me.

Midway's initial fall from grace:

Even when medicore offering was coming from the likes of SEGA,Namco and Nintendo in the arcades, War Gods actually gave the the word "medicore" a real meaning, thus starting Midway's fall from grace.

But they had crap games like Judge Dredd (1992- never released, rightfully so), Revolution X (1994), and MK3 (1995) before, and great games like NFL Blitz (1997), Hydro Thunder (1999), and SF: Rush 2049 (2003) after. If you're approaching their arcade titles from a quality perspective, I see them more as always being spotty, sometimes utter crap, with the occasional gem every few years. But yes, War Gods was a complete joke perhaps surpassed only by Tattoo Assasins.

Well OK, maybe that's a slight exaggeration.

The answer to what happen to Midway is the CEO of Viacom bought up about 80% of the company and did a total managment reorganization.

Isn't NARC coming out at $19.99? That doesn't bode well.

Yeah what happened? Is this game utter shit or what? It sounded somewhat interesting when I first heard about it, anybody played any of it.

JUST BECAUSE THEY DID PSI-OPS DOESNT MAKE THEM AWESOME GOD DAMN

Current and upcoming games:

NBA Ballers
Playmakers Blitz
Psi-Ops
Suffering
Area 51
Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows
Fear and Respect
Unreal series

Just off the top of my head. All are or look like B or better titles.

Dude, I have to play that game now. Is it on MAME?

:lol yes. I've played a few rounds myself. It's so hilariously low-rent and such a blatant rip-off of MK, it's not even bootleg quality, honestly. Good stuff.

Some screenshots were posted a while back. The main guy looked like Johnny Knoxville and the models were sausage-people. It looked like ass, probably THE worst looking 3d game this gen.
