Why would they enter that hellscape ?
Capcom is doing fantastic with their business model, and I think the last thing they would want is to fuck it all up with throwing billions on some unnecessary hardware.

Why would anyone make a console in today's console market besides the 2 incumbents? Even Apple has studied that shit for decades and noped out

Capcom makes money hand over fist publishing on PS and PC, they don't need to join the countless others who have gone to the great console graveyard

What a fucking terrible idea. Every publisher having their own white labelled console, with exclusive games with their own stores.
Why make things exclusive, it's about coming up with something creative for their fanbase. Imagine if Capcom decided to do a custom build for the Resident Evil fans. My point is, they could do some cool stuff using the OEM Xbox. It's an open platform.

It would be a incredibly bad decision for Capcom to make a "console" that is a huge investment with a high risk of failure.

The best that could happen is Valve or Microsoft give a better revenue cut on Capcom published games bought on a Capcom branded Steam Machine or Xbox Helix (built by Asus or MSI etc).

That way Capcom (or Sega etc) have a financial interest in pushing their branded Steam/Xbox systems if they get more money 80-90% from sales of capcom titles vs 70% on vanilla Steam/Xbox machines.

Do you remember what happened when main Resident Evil games (CV, REmake 1, RE0 and even the original RE4) were exclusive for a single platform that a huge part of the fanbase didn't have? And how sales were raised after being ported to other platforms? I really doubt Capcom will repeat the same move.

I still don't get why some people romanticize the idea of having to buy a whole new console just to access the franchises that are currently available on their platform of choice.

"If only I had to buy a separate $600 console instead of being able to play the next Resident Evil or Monster Hunter on my PC and/or current console"

Well Capcom is already successful and in a very good position right now especially with sure big hits IP like for example Monster hunter, RE series, Street figther, and even Mega man, so I admit it has a very small or no chance at all that it will happen. But hypothetically, if it ever happens, it might be a be partnership with big tech giants like for example Samsung or Elon Musk or Amazon.

What in the actual smooth brain question is this?

Do you understand how much investment is required to get into the console market and the potential risks?

Capcom would never take such an unnecessary gamble like that. What would the benefit be?

No one is making a new console. Consoles are going out.
If anything publishers would go mobile and pc.

What a ridiculous take. Consoles are not going out anytime soon.

Switch 1 sold over 150 million units and PS5 will sell well over 100 million units EOL.

PC is not going to replace consoles my friend.

What a great idea. Instead of selling a shitload of games on every platform in existence, they should sell a tiny fraction of that by making their games exclusive to a money-losing niche console.

I doubt AMD even picks up the phone for them for a custom SoC. What's the point anyway, they're thriving as a multiplat developer.

Maybe Nvidia will buy them with 45 minutes worth of their revenue and make their games exclusive to the Nvidia app and GFN. They're getting very cozy.

People need to get over the fact "exclusive" is not seal of quality.

This gen I care faaaaaaar more about 3rd party over Sony's 1st party games.

Gonna be real, if it has a BoF collection that's remastered or a remake collection, I'm all in.

Capcom this is your sign to release a Breath of Fire collection already.

We'll probably get multiple subscriptions for big devs before this happened. Gonna suck cocka

Capcom doesn't have the value(8-9billion), the cash on hand (perhaps 1-1.5billion), the IP, the brand name, nor enough leverage to secure the loans needed to launch something of this magnitude.

Absurdity.
