I just built this PC...

PCI 128 ATI Xtasy Video Card (I don't play games on the PC)

AMD ATHLON 64 3000+
512MB PC3200 DDR- One DIMM Stick and 2 -256MB modules = 1024MB RAM
Beige MidTower Case with 350 Watt Power Supply
Sony DW-D22A DUAL LAYER 16X DVD±RW
Lite-On CD burner
Maxtor 200 Gig ATA133 with 8 Meg Cache 7200RPM
2 Case Fans
Windows XP Home and CD

I also bought this... for capturing home videos and college videos from VHS tapes/VCR.

Anyways the capture is great, no frames skipped... I burned one DVD with the Pinnacle Studio Version 9. But figuring out Chapters and Menus was a little difficult...

I will read up on it... but are there any programs for burning DVD that are really simple to use when wanting to create menus and chapters? Thanks...

I haven't found one I'm a huge fan of... I would think Adobe Premiere Elements might have that feature, and if it does, I'd wager it's among the best consumer-grade solution.

I can say, however, that the Pinnacle software stinks.

I've been wanting to get that to back up my old collection of 49er games (lol all the way back to 1991) but damn $200

What I was doing was transferring VHS to my Sony Mini-DV camera and than using fire-wire to transfer to the PC...

Now it is just one transfer instead of 3... cut a lot of time out...

The last thing I need to learn is how to make chapters and menus...

I would imagine the capture device came with Pinnacle Studio. That will allow you to create DVDs. I don't like it, but it's easy enough to use and you might want to try it to see if it will work for you.

No I have used it, it was just a little confusing with the menus and chapters and I ended up wasting one DVD on it...

So that is why I am looking for an easy to use almost wizard type of menu/chapter creation...

The DVD burner has nothing to do with creating the menus or chapters, it just creates the compilation specified in whatever software you use. The newer NeroVision software by Ahead does a pretty good job of providing an intuitive interface for creating custom video DVDs with verbose menus, chapters, whatever.

I like Pinnacle Studio v9. I took footage from my DV cam of my vaction ion Mexico and put together a nice litte DVD video, The program is simple but has some pretty cool features and a VERY straight forward GUI. I like this program a lot out of many I've sampled, but I am by know means a pro. I'm just a novice who like to play.
