What are some things that you personally believe that are not substantiated by any empirical evidence, scientific reasoning, or any logic whatsoever?

If you say you have nothing, I don't believe you. Everyone has some personal broscience.

I'll start. I believe that after a long ass day of studying/working hard/learning, If I listen to any music besides classical music I won't retain the information as well. But if I listen to classical music it will help my brain consolidate and store all the things I learned.

I do not know if this is true, but I think it helps me.

Anyone else have personal broscience?

no religion plz

I'm convinced that stop lights know I'm there, and turn red just to fuck with me. My father has the same bro-science theory.

Put my mom in the passenger seat, and green lights all the way to your destination. Take her out, and hit every last one.

Well, up until recently I broscience believed that if food didn't make you gag when you smelled or tasted it, it was probably fine to eat. I knew it wasn't true but it kinda seemed to make sense as a practical guide. But boy...no.

Also we have a whole broscience thread already.

wtf is broscience?

You know those list of ten factoids about healthy habbits targeted for women on major news sites without any scientific backing? This is the male version of it. Think bodybuilding.com forums where people are taking stacks of amino acids and herbs with little basis other than virtual rep that rewards marketers of broscience supplements.

Hmm... I drank hot coffee before studying since that made me feel more relaxed. Now that I don't drink coffee, I drink hot chocolate. Does this counts?

As strong of an atheist as I am and as much as I disdain the "supernatural" I still can't comfortably say for certain that our behavior is deterministic.

Oh I got another one (I think). I take way to long to fall asleep so what sometimes I do is associating things in my mind. It's like for example I think about my car, my car's color is red, ell, Clifford the giant dog is red, my dog is obviously a dog, dogs are pets, cats are pets, cats are feline, lions are also feline, lions live on the jungle, etc. etc. I do this extremely fast and I start to fall asleep but wake up since my mind wants to keep thinking about negative stuff, so I do it again and usually completely fall asleep at the 4th or 5th try.

Hmmhh.. not exactly a believe but it's something I do that helps me and I've never read about it nor has anyone told me about it.

Ahh, but it is deterministic processes in your brain that make you believe that.
