Fork 'em, Sparky!
I think that the best song of all time is Do You Realize by the Flaming Lips in Dolby Digital 5.1.

My favorite song, however, is probably Grazes by the Sneaker Pimps.

I feel like DYR is the better song, but I like Grazes better.

I think you and Swoon would get along. He once sent me 2 discs chock full of James Brown and other R&B favs. I didn't really listen that much.

NOTE: 2 years later, I tried it out again and liked it alot more than the first time.

Yikes that's a hard question.

Best:

Beach Boys - God Only Knows (Paul McC. agrees!)

Fav (this'll change tomorrow):

Beach Boys - Cabinessence

Come on, no one can pick one.

Personally, today, I'll go with Radiohead - Street Spirit.

But isn't it like proven fact that Stairway to Heaven is the greatest song ever? Didn't Zeppelin sell their soul and everything for it to be?

oh yeah, I remember how much I love the BBC sessions version of Stairway to Heaven, the cranked up bass on the end of the song, from 7:28 on is AMAZING. I really, really love it. It probably is one of the best songs ever, too.

Yea, I think I'm going to listen to that version right now. :)

And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World,
it was The Best Song in the World.

It defeated the fucking devil, man. Your other songs have no power here.

ROCK!

Seriously...."Joy in Repetition" by Prince

Best, probably Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven or Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody.

Favorite, I dunno. Probably any number of songs from Led Zepplin or The Doors.

Universal 'best song of all time' would be out of Stairway To Heaven, Hotel California, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hey Jude and Yesterday.

My personal favourite is While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the original Beatles version. Runners up I can think of right now: Since I've Been Loving You, Beyond the Yellow Brick Road, Don't Worry Baby, Money For Nothing, Hotel California, Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

I've been tempted to give Zepplin another try lately.

*insert Admiral Ackbar picture here*

I like their bluesy stuff, especially "When the Levee Breaks", but I can't stand "Stairway to Heaven", to be honest.

Best song of all time (stressing all time): Beethoven - Symphony No. 5, 1st Movement

Favorite song: Paul Simon - The Obvious Child

God I love Talk Talk! :D

You rock :D The Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are incredible albums. Laughing Stock is in my top 5 easily. Crazy amazing and sadly underappreciated band.

Ill add some contenders (no modern bullshit):

Nick Drake - Cocaine Blues
Don McLean - Starry Starry Night
Beatles - Let It Be
Otis Redding - Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay
The Clash - London Calling

Favorites:

Bob Dylan - It Ain't Me Babe
The Zombies - A Rose For Emily (how come GAF never talks about them?)
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Simon & Garfunkel - A Hazy Shade Of Winter

with vocals: how to dissapear completely

instrumental: fennesz - a year in a minute

in the middle: animal collective - native belle

fav? closer by nine inch nails - i still notice new stuff in that song, especially in the 5.1 version.

ask for answers/without you im nothing/allergic (to thoughts of mother earth) by Placebo, i tend to treat as 1 song - one of my favs :)

The Payback, by James Brown. There is no question.

White man and James Brown... the best combo since PB&J

I have lots of favorite songs, but I think it would be nearly impossible for me to name one as the best of all time. Just impossible IMO.

Hard questions.

My "best song of all time", maybe Heroes by David Bowie, maybe have listened to this more than any song in my life. I'd put Bohemian Rhapsody up there too.

Favorite? Changes all the time. A song I can listen to over and over right now, Don't Take Me For Granted, Social Distortion.

Best: Guns N' Roses "You Could be Mine" this song has NEVER gotten old for me.
Favorite: 2pac "So Many Tears" I think this is his best song. I can't really say what my favorite song is though, this one just comes to mind.
