Valve to submit release candidate next week, reports say
12:16 Following excited speculation that PC Half-Life 2 may actually be finished and ready to go, the rumour mill has hit overdrive once again, with news that a release candidate won't be submitted until next week. As a consequence, a November release date for the shooter, which is also in the works for Xbox, is currently being touted.
Developer Valve's own marketing guru Doug Lombardi reportedly told American press over the weekend that a release candidate would be sent to publisher Vivendi by September 15 (next Wednesday). This would make the latter part of the developer's estimated "Summer/Fall" launch the obvious target - a disappointment for anyone expecting the game at the end of this month.
To clarify matters, a spokesperson for Vivendi's UK office told us today that it "had yet to be given any details on a release date."
Still, we suppose November wouldn't be too long to wait - as soon as we get word on a confirmed release date we'll let you know.
