What is the reason for Atlus not putting the Persona series on PC?

I have no problem buying it for PS4, but I have friends who are basically PC gamers only. I have recommended Persona, but they're not buying a console for it.

There was a time when 3rd party japanese developers didnt release their games on steam, but these days are long gone. If Falcom, Bamco and Squeenix can put their games om steam, why cant Atlus? I mean, there is no doubt that Persona would sell. Both Tales and Legend of Heroes are doing well from what I understand.

Is there some exclusive deal with sony in effect?

because the main games are exclusive to Playstation?

why hasn't Sony put TLOU on PC? why hasn't Nintendo put Zelda on PC? Why isn't Pokemon on PC? Why isn't Uncharted on PC?

Yeah, I'd definitely give it a go just to see the art looking pristine at 4 million K with no jaggies to be seen. Such a shame that art must be viewed through a lens which makes everything beyond the middle distance look like its covered in catapillars, although compared to DQXI its not really a big deal, that game is a crust festival on Switch. I need a mod to add the definitive edition stuff into the PC version so I can get the best of all worlds.

Bad example. Atlus isnt owned by sony. You cant compare that with Zelda and Nintendo.

Do you think you could recreate aliasing in real life by putting catapillars on every surface of, say, a tree and then view it from a distance? Maybe you could use those comical (for me, terrifying) Harvestman spiders that like to congregate in tight packages all over an Ann cosplayer to simulate aliasing.

I bet the engine would run gloriously on PC, seems to be a pretty simple yet effective renderer. PS5 Royal looks great on PS4 as it is. It would be cool to play it on PC but a game like this wouldn't be that much better at 144fps. Not exactly a twitch shooter or anything.

But, modding possibilities in a Persona game? That would be cool to see what people could do.

Because for whatever reason Atlus has always been weird with their releases and they are one of the few big Japanese devs that still haven't embraced full multiplatform releases for some reason.

Like Persona is only on playstation but then they have spinoffs like Persona Q which is only on Nintendo and others like Persona Arena which are on home consoles but not PC, but then you also have the mainline SMT franchise which used to be only on Sony consoles but has switched over to Nintendo with SMTIV and V.

Hopefully they reconsider for next gen. Let me play Persona 5 on Switch and SMTV on PC

The franchise isn't developed, published or funded by Sony and the IP belongs to Sega/Atlus.
It's nothing like TLOU or Zelda

It's hard to port older console games to PC. As evidenced by numerous examples. Even Catherine had some problems.

Atlus is the last holdout for PC releases. Which is a shame since they consistently make the best games.

We got Catherine but the original version and that was about it. I'm surprised Sega doesn't make them or just have someone port their games.

Persona 5 was what made me get the PS4 Pro, but I ended up regretting that massively. It's honestly way better as an anime than as a game, I should've tried to emulate it probably but meh. Definitely not making that mistake again. :messenger_grimmacing_ When someone asks me I just tell them to watch it on youtube, it's a better experience.

I think with Atlus as with so many other JP studios, they're so focused on their home market they just ignore the rest of the world, so they only do the bare minimum to support it, so that's why you're not gonna see it on multiple platforms. For playstation they just gotta pay for the translation, so it's minimal effort on their part. Just dumb, but eh, what can you do.

They are japanese. Folk are known to be very stubborn. Their C Suite must be 224 years old in average: Slow decision making process, beuroracy, failure to adapt to a rapidly changing enviroment, you name it. Most of those studios only started considering the PC after they ate crow during most of the 7th generation and their ports were terrible, as if they did not care. It's how they treat the platform as an afterthought what I do not like from them. I mean, even if gaming PCs are not popular in Japan, their lack of a global mindset is baffling for such large companies.

I don't even like the Persona games. But I would love to see the Vanillaware games on PC without having to resort to an emulator. Persona 5 would sell like hotcakes on Steam. If a shit tier port like Nier Automata kept selling why Persona 5 would not?
