what jrpg are you playing right now ?

I beat Fantasian. NotMyProblemAnymoreCunt NotMyProblemAnymoreCunt was right, it was brutal. Probably the hardest JRPG I've ever beaten.
I started SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. Sublime soundtrack and art, and some of the rough edges have been rounded but there's still plenty of wtf moments like "Be sure to dodge this bird because he will steamroll your entire party if you get into a battle with him." And "Don't ask this character to help you on this one mission or she will freaking die at the end."

I still haven't beaten Fantasian. What levels were your characters and any tips on how to beat that final boss? Especially what characters you used, Skills you used, spells you used and what equipment you use. I tend to have trouble with his second form the most. I didn't get to his third form since his second form is what decimate my party

As for SaGa Frontier 2 HD Remaster. I played a little and been enjoying it. But I feel the HD Remaster is hit and miss on remastering the game. Some of the environments look weird and I feel they could have done a better job in making the game look better

Xenoblade Chronicles X DE

I need to try to finish it before Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 releases. I just finished Chapter 8 and am about 50 hours into Xenoblade.

There's also Lunar this month and I need to dive into Daybreak 2.

I also want to play Skies of Arcadia Legends (via emulation). I never played it on DC or when it was released on the Gamecube.

Finally playing Metaphor ReFantazio and I gotta say, I'm underwhelmed so far, though I know I'm very early on. The music is horrible, and it's way too much like the standard Persona formula just with unlikable characters. Hope it gets better.
I dropped it after about 20 hours. I just thought it was a "budget" Persona.

I really wish they would have gone in a different direction with that game. Something that wasn't Persona-like

I had a feeling it would be like this, so glad I waited for a heavy discount. Would have been raging had I paid $70 for this.

I was stuck on the final boss for over a week!

First I did all the side quests I could figure out, second I leveled everyone to 60 in that last area before the final boss. The enemies here drop Deus Augite, which you can use to upgrade everyone's weapons and armor.

First and second forms, I think I used Ez (Quick All, Attack/Defense all buffs, Large Potion V2 for healing), Cheryl (Damage dealer, concentrate, double charge, Blizzard strike will do 40k damage), and whoever I needed in the third slot, sometimes Leo with Fire Samdare +2, sometimes Valrika for Arrow Rain +2, Dispel, or Healing, sometimes Kina for Resurrection. I made sure everyone had something equipped with All Ailments Null, and I gave Ez and Cheryl the crystal that has Elemental Weakness Null. From there it wasn't bad.

The final form, however, was brutal. You can drop the elmental weakness null crystals and equip stuff that gives you HP or defense for everyone, you'll need it. Attack up crystal for Cheryl and Zinikr. You gotta have a tank team whose sole job is to survive Big Bang. I used Leo, Kina, and Zinkr for that because they have Guard, I think I also had to buff Defense and use Barrier All as well.
The rest of the time I used my party from forms 1 and 2. Ez healing and buffing, quick all at all times, Cheryl damage dealing with the same combo. Rotating third chair based on needs. Stop Black Hole and White Hole as soon as they come out, radiance strike with buffed Zinikr and darkness strike from Cheryl respectively. Save your Limit Breaks for when the crystals come out, you have to destroy at least all but two or three to survive the attack, swap in whoever has the ultimate elemental affinity that is weak to the majority of the crystals and use the limit break, then try to finish off what you can.

Once his HP is low, he's start a 5 turn countdown, at the end of the countdown it's an instant game over. At this point it's not hard, keep quick all applied, do a concentrate-charge-charge-blizzard strike and whatever other powerful attacks you have and you'll beat him before the countdown ends with time to spare.

Metaphor Refantazio

I'm playing on hard and the gameplay and the hard mode are much MUCH better than in P5R.

LOVE the game.

Gallica reminds me SO MUCH of Morgana, do they have the same English VA? I thought they did but looked it up just now and it said no, so I'm unsure. Voices sure sound similar. and both are amazing btw. The GAMEPLAY of this game on hard is perfect, PERFECT, and adding in an overworld minigame combat system that can reward MP and let you skip random battles, that is action based to mix up the gameplay, this is the fucking WAY, no wonder this game won all the awards last year. I'm totally in love with this game like no JRPG in a long time....the turn based combat on hard reminds me of the strategy in a game like early bg3 or ff tactics. Tis legend. Before this perfect balancing these games always felt a little oddly paced for me but now with this hard mode I'm seeing the matrix. Perfect balancing as is required by a good turn based. They cooked with this hard mode.

I finished SMTV, amazing game! Wanted to do 90+ level side quests but the grinding would ruin my experience and perception of the game, I just dropped after beating last boss.

Also, I just started Tales of Berseria, the game plot is amazing, it clicked quickly, really a breath of fresh air.

Suikoden 2. Finished the 1st on hard on a blind run and borked that 1 fight you need to win to get 108 stars.

They didn't age as bad as I thought they would. Tried playing the 1st one on vita 5 years ago and didn't like it. But that was the first time I had played it since release

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk.

Kinda fun but damn is it an easy game. Already on the 3rd dungeon and if things don't get a bit more challenging soon I can see myself dropping it.

I just finished Ch 8 in Xenoblade X DE, I already played this on WiiU but I always felt I rushed the game little back then but now I'm taking my sweet time and its fucking amazing.

You mostly going spend most of your time doing side quests more than main story and yet doing the side quests is still very fun and exploration and traversal in this game is fantastic.

Once I got my Skell I even barely used fast travel because I just love using my Skell to travel the world.

Game fell of a cliff after a while. So much potential wasted.

FF7 Rebirth, Chapter 10

So Zack isn't dead, but actually is, there are two clouds and two Aerith, Bigs should've been dead but isn't, the gang living their adventures actually doesn't exist but kinda does ?

Stopped playing Dragon Quest VIII (need to go back) in order to play Persona 3 Reload.

I am now in January and even though I was hyped in the beginning, the new coat of paint weared off rather fast.
Guess I am one of the few people who liked tartarus in the original. Here I am really struggling with the fights. I am playing on hard and the game feels extremely unbalanced. Enemies barely pose a threat. At the same time I am either doing almost no damage or destroying everything in a single round (trying to avoid the use of theurgies). Physical and crits feel extremely OP, magic mostly sucks. In the original enemy moves felt more random, here they love focusing on my weaknesses and then buff/debuff which makes the fight just drag so much.
Just tried the reaper for the first time. I am probably slightly underleveled with everyone being around ~75. So I was chipping his health away for about half an hour until he hit half hp and decided to use mamudoon which resulted in my whole team getting wiped. Didnt realize I have no homunculi left, had like 15 at some point. Instakill + GameOver when the protagonist dies is still a bullshit mechanic.

Metaphor: Refantazio on hard mode and it's been pretty great. Enjoy the difficulty, gotten my ass kicked on several occasions. Love the lore, the voice acting and art direction. I may do another play through of it once I beat it on Regicide difficulty.

I'm currently at the dragon temple. It's been a pretty good difficulty spike.
