What unfinished games do you have, and why you are not playing them now?

Just completed Tomb Rider Underworld. Now thinking what to game next, as I have unfinished: MGS5PP, Tales of Arise, Elden Ring, F4, Batman AK...
May the Holy Trinity be with you, and the LIGHTsaber
What about you?

I'm trying to start Clair Obscura but it feels so much like a final fantasy that I don't know if i want to play it.
I've only played the first 30 min so far.

Also need to start Bauldurs Gate 3. Got it installed and just can't get motivated to start such a ginormous game.

I hope there's a high sale for BG3, want to play it

GOW Ragnarok, the story isn't really engaging me anymore, I hope Sony stops this play as someone else in their games, didn't get the game to play as his son.

I've not completed Hogwarts, it got too samey and the loading on Switch drove me away.

Exit the gungeon, I'm still going through Enter the gungeon, I've not got all the pieces of the bullet yet.

I have 1000's of unplayed games.
My recently played games include Spyro Trilogy, Splatoon 3 storymode/Side order, Sly Cooper 1 and I'm reaching the endgame in Arkham Knight.
Played Spyro 100% for the third time and finished some missing achievements while I was at it.

Yeah, it's a complete mystery why my backlog piles up.

You mean games I want to play but haven't started yet? Or games I started but left unfinished?

Why do you have so many games? It's not that you would play them afterlife

Oblivion Remastered. I got SO much done in it, then put it down for DOOM TDA, and then I started playing Battlefront 2 again. I'll go back to it soon. I should before Nightreign and Death Stranding 2.

Thankfully, my unfinished games are shorter, so I'll be able to blast right through them in a weekend.

Will probably knock these out Friday after work:
  • Baldur's Gate III
  • Cyberpunk
  • Witcher 3
  • Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy
  • Persona 5 Royal
  • Octopath Traveler
  • FFX
  • Oblivion Remastered
  • Dragon Quest XI

Started but haven't finished
Alright! Not that many.

Ikaruga is one I really like but have never been able to finish. Same with trying to 1CC Metal Slug 3, but that dream faded a long while ago lol, shit gets too hard on the final stage, and playing on the Vita was giving me hand cramps haha.

There's also the TES games. Only one I've finished is Skyrim and that felt like stockholm syndrome in videogame form.

And I think that's it!

- Hogwarts legacy : bought it 2 years ago, played it for 2 hours, dropped it.

- Disco Elysium : bought last summer, played it for 2 hours dropped it.
Redownloaded it yesterday, played for about 30 minutes...yeah, it's too wacky (or should I say, "hipstery"), too slow, too much shit to read/listen to, too much...yeah, this is not for me, I really don't get the hype behind it.

- The sinking city : bought it last summer, played for about 2 hours, dropped it.
Redownloaded it 4 days ago...can't do it, it's too janky, too slow, too convoluted (map/UI/systems), terribad character models and animations...yeah, it's not for me.

- AC Valhalla : bought it 2 years ago, don't know why since I hate Ubi slop (but did somewhat enjoy Odyssey due to the Greek setting).
Managed to reach England, dropped it.

A lot... I buy many games I want to play when they hit a sale.

For example I just bought Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 for cheap and probably won't play it for at least another 4 months and that's being generous.

Expedition 33
Just started and loving it. Only reason I'm not playing now is because it's the middle of the workweek and I'm spending my lunch break browsing GAF. This is the main game I'm playing right now.

Blue Prince
Taking a break after spending a lot of time getting to room 46. I have some leads but the RNG is getting too annoying to keep wasting time when I have such a backlog, will maybe return to it one day.

God of War: Ragnarok
Not very far in, somewhere in Alfheim but I wasn't feeling it. I will definitely go back to play it as it's still a fun game, but so far not nearly as enjoyable as GoW 2018 (especially combat).

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
About halfway through the game and became burnt out, so I dropped it. I hear it gets better after the halfway point, so I'm planning to play on Switch 2 in hopes performance improves too.

I just beat expedition 33 and went back to DOOM eternal for a change of pace

Hit a game breaking bug on level 2 I can't believe they never fixed, so I went back to doom 2016

I felt the same way near the beginning, I was constantly rolling my eyes at the dialogue and narration, and how "profound" it was trying to be. As I progressed I enjoyed the game a lot more and ended up loving it. Maybe it helped that I role played a redemption arc for Harry, trying to care about characters that initially bothered me so I could experience more of the sidequests/stories.

Not saying you will change your mind and enjoy it since you aren't into reading, but if others were put off by the hipster-esque nature and a slow start should give it a few more hours.

About to finish Dishonored 2 again even though my backlog keeps growing. Makes me a little sad actually for how amazing the atmosphere and attention to detail is compared to almost everything else and what happend to arkane austin.

Lavitz, you described my feelings about the game better than I did, cheers for that 😉
It's exactly how you described it, it comes off as incredibly pseudo-profound something which I hate.
Add to that the fact that...there's not much real gameplay in it (for my tastes that is) and...yeah.

Anyway, gonna give it another try these days, thanks for the input brother !

Like in my entire life I probably only finish 30% of the games I start so there's literally hundreds of unfinished games I never intend to go back to.

My main reason for not playing / finishing games I own is time. Like for instance I bought Stellaris or Phoenix Point, but I know I'd need to have 50-100 hours for a single playthrough. I probably shouldn't have bought them, that's another problem. ;)

Indiana Jones
The Precinct
Doom The Dark Ages

And I grabbed Expedition 33 last night :messenger_expressionless:

Thank god this thread popped up because I was thinking about making a similar one. Suddenly this year went full force with great release after great release. Ever since Oblivion dropped I've been drowning in good games and they aren't stopping. Fucking MindsEye comes out in three weeks and then Death Stranding 2.

Just picked up The Last of Us Part II Remastered

About 40 minutes in, the game crashed right during a transition from gameplay to a cutscene

Tried several fixes, nothing worked.

Uninstalled. Disappointing.

100'ing AC1/BO6, playing through Elden Ring SOTE, going to plat Detroit: Become Human. Trying to first a few others... Age of Empires on the xbox pc app.

Cuphead.

I admit defeat. Gave up on the sunflower boss, which isnt even far into the game. I could had cheesed through the game as I think it has an easy mode. But didnt bother.

Games I'm currently playing but haven't finished yet:
  • Picross S8 - These games have hundreds of Picross puzzles, and I usually go through two or three of these games a year. But it's more like a daily crossword puzzle type thing than an actual game I would want to "sit down and finish".
  • Trails in the Sky the 3rd - Been playing this series off and on for years, hopefully someday I'll catch up, but for now I'm working through this 2007 masterpiece. Currently in Chapter 6 (out of 8), so I'm almost on to the next story arc.
  • Expedition 33 - Playing on PC, loving it and I'm in the last section. Should finish soon, hopefully this weekend before I start on the new Fantasy Life game.
  • The Precinct - Picked this up to play on Steam Deck mostly, good for short play times otherwise it gets a little to monotonous. Game also seems short (10-ish hours to finish).
  • Split Fiction - Been playing this off and on with my son, but we've been working opposite work schedules the last few months, so it's been hard to get a time when we can both sit down to play this.
  • Front Mission 2 Remake - I've restarted this once already, it's just slow as molasses and the objectives aren't always clear (and the game is pretty buggy honestly). My least favorite game in the series overall, might drop this one or just put it on pause for a while.
Why am I not playing them now? Like, right now? I'm at work lol

Biomutant, Foul Play, Blasphemous, and Huntdown on the PS5.
Mario Wonder, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Dread, and Bloodstained on the Switch.
Wolfenstein 2: New Colossus, Metro Series, Arkham Origins, Borderlands 3, Lonely Mountains Downhill, and Hogwarts Legacy on XBOX and PC.

Switch games I basically put in hiatus until Switch 2. I keep trying to clear space off my PS5, and just getting bored and going back to Black Ops. I don't abandon games, so I'll eventually be at them. Huntdown is pretty awesome as is Blasphemous. Biomutant is mediocre and Foul Play sucks.

Xbox I just don't play much. And PC I usually just play Black Ops. I really want to finish Arkham Origins and Wolfenstein 2, though.

I'm also working on games in the Genesis Collection. Just took a break from Streets of Rage. I'll probably finish that later today.

I'm unemployed and proud!

I feel this. Nothing is calling to me right now.

Take a look at the wiki UESP.net for Elder Scrolls Lore porn. It will make you crave open worlds filled with 3 paragraph books.

I've tried so many times to get into Elder Scrolls but I just can't. Western RPGs in general bore me to death unfortunately as do most open worlds.

- Sonic Mania: stuck at a level towards the end
- One Piece Ultimate World Red: I don't like One Piece, bought it cause it was one of the few games the Switch had in its launch window
- Splatoon 2: didn't like it
- ARMS: not much to do with it after some fights
- Mario + Rabbids: got bored after some fights, but it was interesting
- The Witcher 3: kept playing until the flying foetus, never beyond
- Doom 2016: got challenging with the joycons towards the end, didn't know back then how to optimize the weapons and ammo
- Crash Trilogy: I'm towards the end of the first game, didn't play the other ones
- Spyro Trilogy: At the middle of the 1st game, don't really know where I left the game, so I have to start over I guess
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2: I am not an JRPG guy
- Smash Ultimate: bought it because of the hype, I am not a Smash Bros guy
- Fast RMX: thought it was kind of WipEout, it's actually kinda kinda kinda WipEout if you don't really know what WipEout is
- NBA PlayGrounds: was slightly fun but not that much
- Skyrim: I am not an RPG guy
- Naruto Ninja Storm: I have absolutely no clue on what I should do, I keep running around Konoha with no indication on what I should do
- Shaq-Fu: got it for free, not my jam
- Resident Evil Revelations: I am not a RE guy
- Dark Souls Remastered: I am not a souls-guy
- Warframe: I played a lot first and then got bored
- Ôkami: got bored, maybe I should give it a try again
- Dark Siders: controls felt meh, got bored
- Saint Row the Third: the driving is awful
- Hellblade: I am stuck at the weird darkness tunnel
- Dragon Ball FighterZ: I got bored after doing the same thing again and again
- Wolfenstein Youngblood: awful game
- Astral Chain: I kept coming back to the game, but I always forget how to play it, I'll wait for a Switch 2 patch
- Doom: it's okay, but nothing writing home about
- Doom 3: eh, the jump-scares aren't for me
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps: it's Ori 1 again, without any power, I should give it a try again at some point
- Final Fantasy VII: I keep closing the game during the overworld and restart at the memories of Sephiroth at Nibelheim, gets tiring
- Tears of the Kingdom: managed to install cheats that gave me a lot of powers, kinda ruined my save, I need to do it again from the begining
- Civilisation VI: didn't understand how to play the game, got bored, abandoned it
- Two Points Hospital: I did several levels during Covid and then stopped it, never went back
- Vampyr: I got joycon issues, made me stop, I should go back
- Valkyria Chronicles 4: I am not a tactical guy I guess
- GTA Vice City: I cannot trigger the last mission, I think I need to own a lot of properties, but I don't have enough money to do so
- GTA San Andreas: the joycons aren't the best to play it, I'll eventually finish it at some point
- Batman Arkham City: I started it, I should give it a try
- Batman Arkham Asylum: Got stuck at the Bane fight
- Batman Arkham Knight: I didn't like the "put the batmobile on the roof", stopped it for now
- LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga: did the prequels, currently playing Episode IV
- Borderlands 1: I didn't like it
- Bioshock 1: stopped in the middle, never went back
- Bioshock Infinite: stopped after the beginning, never went back
- Red Factions Guerilla: got it for like 3, not my type of game
- Red Dead Redemption 1: I am not a Western-guy
- Red Dead Redemption 2: I was tired of punching my horse and gosh Arthur is so slow
- GTA IV: the driving is absolutely awful
- Doom 64: plays well on the Switch Lite, stopped it after a while, never went back
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land: I played it half of it, stopped it but never went back, will play it again on Switch 2
- Super Mario 3D World: it's basically New Super Mario Bros but in almost 3D, not my jam
- Super Mario Sunshine: the FLUD gameplay is awful with the Pro controller
- Super Mario 64: I am stuck at 56 stars, I keep playing it for ages and never manage to go beyond that
- Ocarina of Time: I am not a Zelda guy, I just liked BOTW
- Super Mario Bros Wonder: It's basically New Super Mario Bros but with more colors
- Ghostwire Tokyo: gets kinda repetitive
- Baldur's Gate 3: I'm stuck in a combat against people from Lazael's race, can't win it somehow
- Horizon Zero Dawn: I bought the game twice, stuck at one mission, and the game is boring as hell
- Days Gone Remastered: boring, left at the begining
- Persona 5: I am not a JRPG guy
- Metaphor ReFantazio: I am clearly not an JRPG guy
- Sakura Wars: I'll finish it eventually, but the gameplay is super boring
- Astro Bot: I really don't see why it got such high scores
- Tomb Raider 2013: I started it on PS3 then bought it again on PS4, I like the gameplay, but somehow I keep forgetting about the game
- Rise of the Tomb Raider: I played it right after Shadow (which I really liked), but the snowy environment gets boring after a while, and too many gunfights for my taste
- Jedi Fallen Order: I'm kinda lost on what to do next after reaching the skill tree, the map, arriving on a planet full of grass
- Fallout New Vegas: just tried it to see if it launched on my Steam Deck, works fine
- Fallout 4: started building my city, was fun, then I stopped and never went back
- Doom Eternal: I played 2/3 (or 3/4) of it, loved the game and the gameplay, need time to finish it (and maybe to play it on a better console than the Switch)
- Sleeping Dogs: I kinda did the intro sequence, never played it again
- Dragon's Dogma: I started it and right away I was like "not for me"
- Portal 2: restarted it 3 times, I loved the first one, I keep losing my save for the second game
- Superliminal: the puzzles start to get boring after a while
- Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: wasn't nearly as fun as NFS III Hot Pursuit I played on my PS1
- Burnout Paradise: I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do
- Gran Turismo 7: played it a lot while having my PSVR2, need to go back to it
- Metroid Prime Remastered: I am stuck, I need to go somewhere but it's filled with water, and all the walkthrough I watch the section is dry
- Assassin's Creed Black Flag: I am not really an Assassin's Creed guy, especially not the old ones
- Saint Row IV: Got it for almost free, didn't touch it yet

7th Dragon III: Code VFD is probably the one game I stopped that I might go back and finish. It's not a bad game but I don't think it has enough substance to justify its length.

Yes! Always a Picross game in rotation for me as well, with some gaps in between as I switch games so I don't burn out.

Why am I not playing them now? Like, right now? I'm at work lol

Same, though Picross is an excellent lunch break game if you have the means.

A few things:

1. Great Shaq-Fu pun, also how long ago did you play and drop it? lol

2. People don't often talk about it, but Okami is a very meandering game lacking motivation after the first act, right up until the final couple dungeons. Where did you quit?

3. I made it to Kalm and stopped 3 or 4 times before I actually stuck with it and finished the game. Now it's one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I know you are not a JRPG fan so not trying to convince you to play it, just funny how different our taste is but we still had the same trouble sticking with it at that point.

I usually bring either my Switch or Steam Deck with me to work, so I can play on my lunch breaks. I'm typically the opposite though, since my job can be pretty mentally demanding I like to use the time to give myself a brain break and will often play story-heavy games on my time off. JRPGs are my usual go-tos, especially stuff like The Legend of Heroes where I could spend the entire time basically watching a cut scene.

Picross I usually do in the morning, to wake up my brain.

Too many to list.

Diverging from the path though, and right now I'm playing games I am interested in (and not necessarily focused on review scores or critical reception).

YTD have played:
- Resident Evil 3
- BioShock Infinite
- Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2
- Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate

Not the greatest games ever, but they all have an actual emphasis on gameplay. Instead of being walking sim garbage or open world slop.

I've had Days Gone and Titanfall 2 sat on my shelf for months. Just never got round to them.

I also have the DLC for PoP Lost Crown to finish.

I've tried free to play games for the first time this year and got stuck, I've also beaten 60+ games last year and I don't know from which direction I should get my s together and get back on track. Yeah, playing f2p this year for the first time made me even worse. Anyway, here's the list

Scarlet Nexus
Elden Ring
Baldur's Gate 3
Dragon Age Inquisition
Fallout 3
ion fury
Megaman zero/zx collection
Sword and Fairy Together Forever
The Witcher 2

I got Shaq-Fu (Reborn) for free as I had NBA Playgrounds I believe, I played one stage, and I was done.

Regarding Ôkami, I played for a while, but definitly not after the first act. Found it a bit repetitive, I dunno it didn't click with me.

I started playing it during the hype about the remake, then I did Remake and Rebirth (currently finishing Rebirth), so maybe I'll be back playing it at some point, but I really like the lore
