What was your favorite decade of your life?

I was born in the mid 80's so I can't speak of the entire decade, so I can only really judge the 90's on. I think the 90's were a lot of fun, but 2000-2010 is pretty underrated.

Same, clubbing was awesome, camera phones weren't standard, so shit ends up as urban legends, social media hadn't gone into over drive

00-10 was my peak decade

I only got to enjoy like 5 years in the 90's, but yeah, that was a good time based on the VHS tapes and the few memories I have of the decade. I've always been very fond of 90's tv shows, movies, music, etc. And I'm constantly nostalgic for that time, which I've mostly experienced through those mediums, and kind of got handed down my "taste" for those things through my much older siblings, cousins, parents. GOAT period.

Early 2000's were alright if you were a kid, but it must have sucked to be an adult in the US when 9/11 was a thing. Also the 2007-2009 recession was a BAD TIME if you were a fresh graduate looking for a job, or you lost your job/home due to the economic downturn. I was in elementary/middle school during these years, and they were a combination of careless, childish freedom and angsty teenage behavior. Lots of skateboarding and riding bikes and exploring the suburban neighborhood with friends. No cellphones so our parents could never keep track of us, we'd hangout all day until it got dark. It was a blast. Overall, the 2000's are somewhat nostalgic now, and plenty of neat things happened during that period, especially on the topic of gaming, internet stuff and technology.

The 2010's are VERY underrated. I'd say around 2012 is when things become kind of fun again, especially if you live in the US. I'd say the 2010's were my most formative teenage/adult years where I consumed the most entertainment (especially video games), learned the most things about life, and spent the most time doing the things I love like going to concerts, making/producing music/art, spending time with people my age/friends. Pretty much the "peak" of my life regarding my high school/college years.

Let's not even talk about the 2020's ...

The early 90s were horrible for me personally, late 90s and early 2000s were the best years.

I'd say the 10 years after going online(1996 for me). Such a world opening up.

You see back then the internet was still a cool place, with cool stuff and cool people.

Now you really gotta search for that :0

2000’s. I’m 28 now, and I wanna say I had the most fun around 05-06. We moved out the hood an into the suburbs, I met new friends, we always hung out everyday, new systems like the 360,PS3,wii. Online was a big deal, social media wasn’t huge, yeah we had MySpace but we still was always outside. SJW wasn’t really huge, nobody offended easily. Games like Gears, Zelda:TP, and just looking at how cool the 360 dashboard was at the too cool. Watching adult swim anime like beach at midnight was awesome.
If it wasn’t for SJW being annoying as fuck this would be a good era.

2000s were a good time. Lots of skateboarding with friends, movies and TV were pretty good, got my first job, etc. I feel pretty blessed to have experienced that period of time as a kid/adolescent before the current age of social media addiction and nonsense of today.

00s.. my first game console, my best school times, my worst school times leading to my best music on my best ever mp3 device (iPod Classic 180gb, with the entire Frasier tv series on it!), my most intense few years of sexual adventure in Beijing, Football Manager, a chipped Xbox with 90c games from a Chinese hardware market, whipcord like body, Olympics, getting a macbook pro, sony Ericsson mobile phone with Lumines on it... Years of clubbing and going to bars without ever once doing it with a bunch of drunk white assholes - only went out if it was one on one with a girl... yeah Jesus great few years~

.. gotta bring back the magic for the 20s!

90s or 2000s. I loved the culture of both.

2010s started well, but we all know how the rest went. I still enjoy myself, but I greatly miss having a general society I can relate to and belong in. At best, there’s a hole with something missing. At worst, there’s an impending sense of ‘How are we going to deal with this’ with the multiplying idiocy, day by day.

2008 - 2015

I had my whole life ahead of me and all I did was get torqued up, make short films, played Super Nintendo/Wii, and banged out my little punk/goth GF daily. It was awesome.
Feels like ages ago, but I still miss her. Pale skin, black Bettie Page hair, and pink leather jacket. She complemented me well. Total head turner.

I'm coming back up, but I'm sober, boring, and straight laced now. My internet persona is about as wild as I get. I don't miss who I was then, but I miss her. That's too real.

The best is right now. As I'm about to be 42 and have tons of pain and happiness to reflect on I'm in a good place mentally, financially etc..

Would I like to go back to 1992-1997? Fuck yeah, but I was fucking STUPID.
Life is great when you think your invincible. When it revolves around FOMO, girls and drugs...but that's not how one can live. I regret living my 'college years' in highschool lol

From the perspective of sheer awesomeness, it's hard to beat the 80ies.
Space shuttle launches, Michael Jackson with Thriller, Prince with Purple Rain, MTV as a culture phenomenon, Queen playing Live Aid, Pepsi vs Coke, C64 and Amiga, men were still real men, women were real women, Space Balls, Star Wars, Goonies, Karate Kid, Back to the Future, reading MAD magazine, etc etc etc.

It sometimes feels like half of the pop culture we have now had its origins in that period of time.

The greatest movie ever made...

Dunno about decade but years? 2007, 2011 and 2013 easily.

2007 was a simpler time.

Wake up for college.
Smash Bros Dojo.
Come home from a house party.
Smash Bros Dojo.
Return from a holiday.
Smash Bros Dojo.

2011 I was hitting the clubs heavy on Fri/Sat every weekend without fail and in the week I was working or smashing some JRPG.

2013 I lost a good amount of weight and felt good about myself, was just a great year being active and stuff. Attempting the same thing for 2021.

I know that feeling. 90s the music was amazing, 00s I became a fucking machine and had a lot of fun clubbing, missed the recession by being in Asia, so I did well. On a personal level the 10s were great - got my life together in a big way, but I miss good art in a big way, be that movies, music or games. When art dies your soul dies with it. I’m thankful I can live out the golden years of cinema on my Plex server.

1987-97 sprites become polygons; everyone I knew was still alive

Fuck the 00-10s. Curse those fucking years. I lost my job due to 9/11 and saw people my age gear up and go to war. Good thing was, I hung out with a group of friends who were in the same situation as me. The recession that began around 2008 was also cursed.

Seems like I'm an old lady in a Twilight Zone episode where I long for my old days. The 2020s can only get better though. :D
