Whatever happened to the Rez re-release?

So OPM was full of it, eh? What a shocker.

But damnit, I wanted it to be true. And release a NiGHTS sequel while they're at it.

Was there ever any update about that rumor though?

i hope to god it DOESN'T get re-released. it just makes my factory-sealed copy that much more valuable.

Yeah, and re-release Gitaroo-Man while you're at it. Uh...Koei.

Saw it on G4 yesterday, and I gotta say it looks fun.

Rez I already have on Dreamcast, though I bet it looks loads better on the PS2.

It does. I think the DC was 30 and the PS2 is 60. It looks silky smooth and brighter in comparison anyway.

So stupid not to release this again :(

GMR also commented on the rumor and said it was going to be rereleased in november, 04. Needless to say it never happened.

Wasn't it the other way around?

I'm going to check up on that.

Noooo, the PS2 version was 60 fps and the DC version was 30.

When running both versions on the same set, the PS2 version also seems to exhibit bright colors and more "robust" effects in certain areas. The DC version also seemed to have more obvious color gradient flaws.

The PS2 version uses field rendering, though, so it looks a little jaggy...but due to the wire frame nature of the visuals, it actually looks pretty cool.

Hmmm... if RE4 does really well, it wouldn't surprise me to see a collector's pack with RE2 and 3 rereleased for a nice, budget price. :)

Although if you have a VGA cable, you can play the Dreamcast version of Rez in 480p, which the PS2 version doesn't support. Looks stunning. :)

Ahhh, okay. I'm not sure why I switched them in my head.

Thanks!

Don't forget, the PS2 has the digital audio out, so it sounds loads better when you pipe it through your reciever.

I think it will do as well as a decent first party game (which is good) but I don't expect to see that pack here. Especially as they have released a budget pack right before 4 came out with 0 and REMake inside. I think their drawing attention away from the subpar presentation of the older ports.

Honestly, I don't know how much REZ would make vs. costs. But it stinks that there are a few desirable games for this gen out there that you have to pay a premium to get.

it wasn't a rumor. it came straight from sega PR. i wrote the story.

i have not been informed why it didn't happen, but i would imagine it was a lack of retailer interest. guess what retailers didn't have any money to buy during the biggest november for games EVER? oh yeah, niche titles that had already failed at retail once.

I hope every game that some collector-retard covets for eBay value gets re-released.

Amen to that. There's nothing worse than some jerk who has awesome, sought-after games who doesn't even play them.

It's funny, I collect and horde games, but I agree with border and fortninty. The cheaper the games, the better. I collect to have a library to play, so monetary value is meaningless to me, unless it's worth considerably less than I pay for it, heh. I do have a compulsive distaste for GH packaging though, go figure.

I'd really like a re-release. I've always wanted Rez, but I didn't have a PS2 or a DC when it rolled out the first time. Now it's going on half.com for $115. :(

Man, i don't feel so bad about paying $50 for it on eBay then.
Yeah, from what I've seen, that's a real bargain (for a U.S. copy), especially if you got it factory-sealed (the one I saw on half.com just now was advertised as such).

Please don't re-release it. Rez and Gitaroo Man are the only two games that I own that could even remotely be considered rare :(
