Whats next for Tim Schafer~?

If he's so good, why did the game horribly bomb?

Numbers don't lie. He's finished.

Embezzling is a sin, and sinners go to hell.

.......You're just mad because people like Psychonauts better than Advent.

yeah, and the matrix games sell tons of copies, doesn't mean they're any good.

There will always be brilliant things ignored by the general public and enjoyed by a lucky few.

Enter the Matrix's hacking side-game was more enjoyable than Psychonauts.

I know quite a few people at MSGS are happy to see that Tim and the game failed. The sunk in a ton of $$$$ into DoubleFine. They say it's Karma.

What the hell is with the Nintendo/Tim Schafer collabration wishes? That makes NO sense to me.

No kidding. Tim hates Nintendo doesn't he? Besides if Nintendo wants more run of the mill platformers that take forever to come out, they could just buy back Rare.

A man with a blatant bias.

A man who steals from honest hardworking people.

A man who delves into trickery.

A man who is in it for nothing but personal profit.

A man who sins.

Tim Schafer will be tried at the gates and cast into hell.

So it is written, so shall it be.

Tim Schafer directed the highest rated platformer of 2005. Also, he helped create some of the best adventure games ever.

This thread is taking a turn towards retardedtown

Stop taking the joke characters seriously, PLEASE

Whats with the jokes about embezzling? He embezzled money?? He's naughty. But his jobs page is so funny, I'd work there.

12 million lashes awaits Schafer, for the $12 million he looted like an Orc. He is the reason Advent Rising didn't become the huge blockbuster it should have become. In fact, Shafer stole many resources that were supposed to be used for Advent Rising.

Ruining more series? Notice how Tim Schafer was involved in Day of the Tentacle, which is a pile compared the original Maniac Mansion? Hmmmmmmmm.

And Nintendo should care why again? As much as Nintendo loves creativity, they love profit even more. Besides unlike Tim, Nintendo happens to have tons of creative people who happen to have created profitable games.

Again, doesn't Tim not like Nintendo in the first place?

Well to be fair, what have Gilbert and Noah done in say, the last 10 years?

Doesn't matter as that one piece was better than anything Schafer's name is on. :P

He did WHAT??

If he insulted gamecube then I'm glad his shitty game didn't sell for shit
Psychonauts was made for the Xbox/PC. When MS bailed on them, they also added a PS2-port. Tim jokingly said it was on all the consoles, or at least all the important ones (the Dreamcast and GameCube being failures). It would've been funny if it didn't hold as much truth, and if Psychonauts didn't eventually join the DC and Cube in a way he hadn't expected.

I think the first part is that lots of Nintendo fans fell in love with Lucasarts-style adventure games because of Maniac Mansion on the NES, despite it not being the "definitive version".

Second is that many people think Psychonauts (a platformer with a lot of personality) would've stood out from the crowd and been appreciated more on the Cube than it was on the PS2, and that it would've been more "in synch" with the Cube's audience than it was with the Xbox or PC. Of course, Psychonauts was on a collision course with the Xbox/PC from day-1, so there's not much Majesco could've done about that. But since the Cube was the only platform that wasn't tried, we'll never know.

Third is that the DS and it's touchscreen is a gift from God for adventure gamers, but it's being underutilized because everyone's apparently dead. And Tim seems to not be dead. So if he's still feeling okay after Psychonauts, he should haul his butt over to the DS before the opportunity passes us all by.

He thinks that Mario 64 is the most influential game in the history of ever, and as of a couple months ago he was saying that Animal Crossing was his favorite game, but that it depressed him because he joined the party late, and nobody wanted to talk about it anymore. I think he also said he would've liked to be a part of the Animal Crossing DS development team, but that was obviously out of the question. He might be playing Animal Crossing on WiFi as we speak. I think the GameCube joke was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Replace "MSGS" with "Nintendo" and "Psychonauts" with "Metroid Prime" and "failed" with "was awesome" and "Doublefine" with "Retro", and it's also true. :D

Right, and before anyone starts crying, tim does NOT hate nintendo.

Edit: that's not really how the joke went, http://www.doublefine.com/news2005summer.htm#23June2005

"And more! Yes, there are more awards for the Excellent Game but I have to grab some lunch now so I can be back in time to play Mario Kart DS. They will start without me and I know they secretly want to because I always win."

http://www.doublefine.com/news2005summer.htm#8September2005

And he also plays animal crossing

DOESN'T HATE NINTENDO, NO CRYING NEEDED IN THIS THREAD

The guy made one snide remark about the Gamecube, and people actually thought he hated Nintendo?

Hah.

True except for the part where Retro saved their asses by the game being not only a critical success but a sales success as well. So although the equations are the same, the outcomes are completely different.

That and Retro doesn't have to worry about finding funding for their next project. I don't think Doublefine has that sort of luxuary.

Lot of developers has took free money from Microsoft this generation, why Tim Schafer shouldn´t? ;)

Psychonauts is ways more interesting than Conker and Microsoft didn´t have problem supporting Rare for ages until they finished it. There is a reason why lot of reviewers like it so much (and no, is not because we suck :P)

Majesco doen´t seem a genious company managing their games. I think Psychonauts will do much better in Europe with THQ, if they sell it in the proper way.

And I like Tim Schafer, he gives their game an unique style and that is nice in a industry crowded of "me too" titles.

What's with the Schafer hate? I'm totally oblivious to the ruckus he's caused, supposedly.

Microsoft? Stealing? Embezzelment? What the hell did this beaded man do???

If Tim embezzled, he'd be in jail.

Companies pour money into money pits all the time. If it's bad for the shareholders, the guy to blame is the one who wrote the checks. You have to supervise software development properties that you fund, and you have to do it properly.

And that's the fact, Jack.

Personally, I would have seen no reason to excessively supervise/limit what turned out as one of the best games of 2005. But something went wrong, yet another fantastic game underperformed, and there we are...

His games are too good. He needs to stop rocking the boat and maintain status quo, so we can better appreciate games like Advent Rising.

Microsoft was building Doublefine up as a "second party". Then after spending 3.5 years and $12 million making Psychonauts, Microsoft got tired of waiting and cut them loose.

They'd probably have done the same to Rare several times over by now, but they're apparently stuck with them, unless they want to sell them back to Ninty for ten cents on the dollar.

Demi, you seem to know a lot about Advent Rising. Maybe you could tell me why it blows steaming hot shit out of the disk drive instead of play an actual game?

Seriously, I've tried with several copies on both PC and Xbox. It just doesn't change.

Why am I responding to what has to be a moderator's joke account?

Metroid Prime didn't sell anywhere as well as Nintendo expected and Metroid Prime 2 bombed.

Nintendo can pour money down bottomless pits too!

1.2 million sold is not selling as well as expected???? Granted that Echoes didn't reach that number but even Echoes out sold Tim's game five times over.
