What's the best Antivirus software?

Norton doesnt like to go away, and mcafee I havent used for years. I know staples offers a antivirus made by panda which makes stuff for small and large businesses.

haha well there is some truth to that too. Ive been using the net since I was 14 and since then ive had two viruses. The biggest problem is spyware honestly, and again, just gotta be vigilant.

I quite detest the use of norton av. It's a virus itself. You want to install the antivirus... the norton then replicates itself with other meaningless agents in the computer. Then upon uninstalling (cleaning) the norton virus, it tears parts of your computer (infected places) to shreds.
Though it did make me live without a recycle bin

Anti-Vir is good and free. Frequently updated too.
i'll get McAfee some point in the future though. Virii are getting more obnoxious, and i've heard good things about McAfee. After using Norton for years and finally uninstalling it (they wanted too much to update it), it'll be a while until i'll install it again. It killed my internet access.

Trend Micros housecall online seems to work pretty well for me though.

As they note on the site, Microsoft themselves have renewed their license for the 4th year in a row, they have a 100% ItW rating, and from my own personal use, they've been great. I've never landed a virus and I've been all over the Net.

Status shows security scanning features, auto protect/worm protection/email scanning/full system scan's last date, and lower its the subscription service, expiration date and all that. Cant really be more streamlined than that.
The 2k4 version i had before though, i dont remember if it was NAV 2k4 or internet security but it was the very definition of annoying, tons of tabs, useless windows to open to get somewhere, popup messages constantly showing up (adblock's iirc) took forever to load up, etc.

I have Panda. My friend has Kaspersky. They both rock.
Installed the free, German antivirus program called "Antivir". Very neat and simple--seems to be light on resources too. I like it, although Panda and Kasp are getting alot of hype around em--free is free ya know?
