Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden are solid choices. Both are relatively inexpensive if you get them on sale with a mail-in rebate (usually around 20 dollars for a 100 disc spindle after rebate)

Depends on what your burning and at what speeds really. Brands like Verbatim are just a bit harder to **** up/make coaster's out of.

I do VHS->DVD for my dad's camera store. People were coming back in droves with skipping DVDs when i used the el cheapo CompUSA brand, now I use Memorex and no problems.

Taiyo Yuden or genuine Verbatim MCC are the best out there.
Maxell Japan is also very good media.

Basically, when you're out shopping for some, look on the back and only get ones that say "made in Japan". Taiwan media is crap.

I believe my burner is 8x R+ and 4x RW+.

Hmmm, I've never had that problem when I convert computer video formats into DVDs and I've been using these the cheap DVDs\CDs CompUSA sell for years. I do however sometimes get the cyclical redudancy errors now and then when trying to read bad burned DVDs\CDs. I have to throw away the DVD\CD, but I get those when using regular brands like Verbatim and Memorex also.
