Dreamweaver. You can download a 30-day trial which should be enough time to learn the basics of the program and build a site.

I really like HomeSite ... it's a bit codey but the color scheme, code snippets, macros etc. make building easy! Prolly too codey for your tastes tho ... it's definitely my preferred "Notepad-plus" style editor, tho.

If only it had multibyte language support ... arrgh!

Notepad is for lusers. Sorry, I like not having to count out the line numbers in my code.

Dreamweaver is the best at the moment. Download the demo from Macromedia. Not only does it have the WYSIWYG editor, the text editor portion is pretty good. Line numbers, code reference, code completion, tabbed editing. There are modules for different languages (i.e. ASP, PHP, etc.) and I think you can download others from the website.

If you want to go cheap, get Textpad. Tabbed file editing and line numbers.

Yeah, notepad is for the "look at me, I'm smart" NOT! guys. HEHE, don't get mad :D

Just use Dreamweaver. Notepad guys better get with the program. We are not in 1992 anymore ;)

Dreamweaver for sure.

I've been making websites for years, yet I'll still admit my HTML skills are lacking. I basically use Dreamweaver to create the basic page, then use it's built in text editor to clean up the code and change a few things.

I don't recall ever counting lines for any reason while using html.
I'm pretty sure my roommate, who does pretty good designs in my opinion, first makes up the page's design in photoshop, then does all the code by hand.

Not so much for HTML, but other things -- like ASP, PHP, etc.

Get into actual web programming and you'll find that using Notepad is like trying to cut raw meat with a butter knife. Yes, you can get the job done, but the editor itself is such a handicap.
