What's the competing test to the SAT?

The SAT isn't necessarily THE standard college exam. Isn't there a second test that's becoming more popular among colleges?
 
Nope, no writing. Just four sections IIRC, Reading, English, Math, and Science. You get a score out of 36 for each section, and these are composited together. To give you some idea, a 1310 SAT is about a 30 ACT.

Actually, iirc, the SAT will be moving to a new format within the next few years that features a writing sample or two.
 
I took the ACT, SAT, and a couple SAT II's many moons ago. The standardized test people gave me a free hug for my accomplishments.
 
ACT is easier than the SAT imo, not by a whole lot, but the additional english sections and stuff help balance out my math scores. I took the SAT but didnt send it to schools
