What's the next movie using Sky Captain/Sin City/Casshern technology

Hopefully none. Dont get me wrong, I loved its use in Sin City, but I would hate to see it start a new wave on film not shot on location. I need real scenery and cinematography.

I greatly look forward to SC2 in 2007, though.

And every movie must be a comedy with Adam Sandler!

Sky Captain was pretty painful on a lot of levels. I forgot I even owned it.

If the technology used to make a film like Sky Captain is used to film good SF/fantasy screenplays that would be prohibitively expensive to shoot otherwise, then I'm all for it. The problem with Sky Captain was that, just like more than half of all summer blockbusters, the technical aspects of the film took precedence over the screenwriting (which was absolutely horrible).

That saying "I hope no more movies are made using this technology" is short-sighted.

Nah, its an opinion. Aside from my aforementioned location/cinematography gripes, theres also the issue just mentioned of technical aspects overshadowing writing, and finally the issue of it being difficult to get top performances from actors in such an environment.

Yeah, and your opinion is short-sighted.

Keep on criticizing an opinion then, if you must. I wont change mine, so you are wasting your breath... er, keystrokes. Sky Captain and Casshern were 2 awful movies, and SC had a whole slew of problems too, so I dont think my concerns are unfounded.

EDIT: For fukes sakes, I mean next to none, or very few.

You have your opinion and I have mine. You don't have to change your opinion, but that doesn't mean I can't state my opinion, which is that blaming the technologies that artists use for the lack of good content and hoping it isn't used any further is short-sighted. Though the content may not be good, that's usually the fault of the artist, not the technology. Imagine if, after seeing the first motion picture, the audience said, "Well that wasn't impressive, I hope that technology never gets used again." Hell, I'm not even a fan of any of those three movies, but I still recognize that the technology can be useful in the right hands.

Haha. Im not new to Japanese nor Asian cinema, not in the least. I also dont feel all or most of their films are pretentious turds like Casshern. Hell, at least 3 of my top 10 films alltime come out of Japan, and probably another 3 from different Asian nations.

a lot of the japanese movies I've watched lately have been of the "pretentious turds like Casshern" type. sadly, all the trailers always emphasize the action scenes :lol :lol

What he said. I loved Sin City. It's one of my favorites actually of all time especially in that genre.

Sky Captain was decent to good for me. Not great but not bad either as compared to most hollywood fare I see.

I think there is room for all kinds of cinema. In other words most movies suck anyway. I don't think the technology of it is the problem or that by liking the technology it means all traditionally filmed movies should cease to exist. There are many things that you can do with that technology that you can't do in traditional films and vice versa.

Casshern rocked.

The action sequences were spectacular, but I still to this day don't know what the hell that movie was about. Actually there seems to be a fair few movies from Japan and Korea that barely make sense (certain scenes from the start of Lady Vengeance didn't make much sense either, but still it was a great movie)... is my lack of understanding a cultural thing, or is it just that they really fucking struggle to come up with coherent stories?
