What's up with LOTR: ROTK difficulty?

The game looks and plays great, however I have a few issues with the difficulty..
I've tried playing it on Normal and I was completely owned by the time I was on gandalf's second level where you are defending the walls , and the king of dead level for aragorn. I think there is a severe lack of checkpoints that make it quite difficult. I've restarted on easy and it still is very difficult , I'm now stuck in the courtyard with gandalf.

Any tips anybody can give me?

Hang back and kill stuff as it comes to you. Long range to kill archers, close-range for everything else. When the trolls show up, remember that one spear hit kills them. The spears are in two places in the courtyard, and will regenerate, so use them as needed. When the enemy leaders show up (the guys with lifebars), try to nail them with spears to knock their armor off, then you can hack away and actually take life off them. If you can't do that, a shield-breaker combo or two will do the trick.

That game kicked my butt too. It's the only reason I don't own it yet. But I've been meaning to pick it up now. I'll probably be wanting it after I watch the extended version of the dvd.

thats why you need to have much luck and why this game is a utterly failure. thats the reason, why the original stuff made the atari forgotten realms game.
